Friendship Makes You Complete ~ Chapter 3

"I have a idea!" Sophia blurted. Lily, Mack and Bill looked at her. "Well, what is it, miss?" Mack asked. "Since the car has broke down, I c run on ahead and find her!" Bill shook his head. "No, ma'am. I'm sorry but I'm NOT going to let you go alone. Lily will go with you. Is that alright, Lily?" Lily nodded. "Yes sir!" She agreed. Mack winked at them. "Good luck, girls!" He called. Sophia and Lily waved good-bye and jumped out. "Where next?" Sophia asked. Lily pointed to the setting sun. "It'll be dark soon," she said, "so if we start toward the sun, we can stay in the light faster. But, if we want light, we have to run." Sophia nodded. "Don't worry! I outran my older brother once!" Lily nodded to show that she heard her and began to run - fast. Sophia raced beside her. "You're. Fast!" She panted. "Don't talk. Save your breath!" Lily whispered loudly. Sophia noticed that it was getting darker. Lily must've noticed too, because she began to run faster, until she was just a streak of dark blue. A huge gray stone house sat on the horizon. "Speed up!" Lily called. Sophia gasped for breath and raced forward until she was at Lily's heels. They stopped by the door of the house and Sophia started to raise the gold knocker. "No, no, no, no, no." Lily whispered quickly. She snatched away the knocker and set it carefully down. "We're going to investigate." Sophia's heart beat. Spy? Investigate? Oh the joy! She held tightly to the officer's hand and trembled with excitement. She was going to be a spy!
