I'm guessing this book was self-published. While written for the "UN-tourist", it was written by a "NON-writer" at about the level of a US 9th grader. The work was never proof-read, not was there any fact-checking. Examples: > In relating the history of Berlin, the author changes suddenly from past to present tense. (Either could be correct, but one or the other, please!) > In the section on transit options, the author maintains that "S-Bahn“ is short for "Schnell-Bahn“ (fast-rail); in truth it's "Stadt-Bahn “ (city-rail). There is no info on how to use Berlin's extensive public transit system. The fascinating histories of the U-Bahn and S-Bahn are never mentioned. > The section on German language was laughable. A travel guide is not the place for a German course, but the simplified expressions and their 'approximate' pronunciations should at least be accurate. A brief review of the text by a qualified German-speaker would have been worthwhile. The most helpful part of the book was the appendix with numerous links to truly useful websites. Any internet-savvy reader would get more accurate and more meaningful information from a bit of web-searching.
