Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique, Tristia based on 0 ratings. 2 reviews.
This is a really beautiful recording of some wonderful music. Having a French conductor probably makes a great deal of difference. The variations in the movements of the major work are clearly defined and the voices in the TRISTIA selections are just right for that work. We probably have to thank Harriet Smithson for inspiring the symphony, though as the world knows, she was not the prize the composer first imagined!
