I have owned this product for a year and use it in conjunction with other books and CDs for Simplified Mandarin. I have found this to be a terrific aid to vocabulary learning and to learning Simplified Mandarin Chinese characters. There are 1,000 different Simplified Mandarin words in the set. I like to take 100 to 200 cards at a time and wrap a rubber band around them for easy transport to everywhere I go during the day. Anytime I have a few minutes that would otherwise be wasted I just pull out the cards and start in reviewing them. I wouldn't want to use them as the only way to try and learn Simplified Mandarin Chinese, but they are a convenient and helpful assist on the pathway to learning. I love the cards and have ordered a second set for my son.
