When Leonard Bernstein wrote the Chichester Psalms, he wrote in a modernistic fashion with much dissonance (clashing notes) and odd turns. Though this style may seem odd at first, it becomes addictive the more you hear it. As one who has both performed this piece before and has become a huge fan of it, I say that this is a piece which should definitely be added to your collection. Just get a CD with a less dissappointing performance than this one.
