This book is a must-have reference

I have the Graedons' original 'The People's Pharmacy' and always found it a useful and helpful book. When I discovered they published this book which reviews the usefulness of a wide range of treatments for common health and mental health ailments (such as acne, allergies, depression, foot odor, insomnia, weight loss and more), I got it also and was not disappointed. This is a great reference, written in a down-to-earth manner, reviewing the most useful, best treatments for 2 dozen conditions. It gave me information I didn't know or even think to try. A must-have for anyone.

Best Choices Allow you to make Informed Decisions

Joe and Terry Graedon have a unique perspective. They understand traditional remedies AND alternative remedies and, thus, are in a great position to provide a balanced view of the pros and cons of various traditional and non traditional approaches to treatment of conditions. This is a 'must have' volume for folks who are attracted to the idea of self care.

The best book yet from the Graedons

For anyone trying to keep up with both prescription and over-the-counter medications, as well as some tried and true home remedies, this book is wonderful. The Graedons have devoted themselves to deciphering and decoding the very confusing world of health care and traditional and non-traditional medications and practices for all Americans. Their new book is the absolute best. It is very easy to read and understand, and makes what is usually a very confusing endeavor (sifting through the morass of modern American medicine) much less intimidating. I find this book to be extremely helpful.

Excellent Reference Guide, plus an Interesting Book to read cover-to-cover

On an airplane ride recently, my husband pulled this book out of his backpack. I grabbed it because I had a particular problem I wanted advice about. . .my daughter's acne. I easily located a section (12 pages) in the book that thoroughly decribed several acne treatments, recommendations, causes, and many question/answer examples. I found this so informative that I began to read through the book, learning new things (I am an RN), and wanting to try many home remedies and over-the-counter products. I am excited to own this reference book, and know it will be used over and over. I have recommended it to all of my friends, and told them: 'Before you call your doctor, you may want to read about your problem in this book.'

If you believe in self-care, this is the book for you

As a practicing physician with little time for reading, i read this book from cover to cover in one day. Lots of practical information on what works and what doesn't work in alternative medicine along with a very balanced view on the roles of alternative and traditional medicine. My wife, a family physician herself, agrees that this is the best book yet for individuals who believe in self-care. So much so that she recommends it to her patients as a must-read. Enjoy it.
