We visited Joshua Tree with our 9-year-old son and this book was very helpful. Both of the hikes we ended up doing were certainly easy enough for him, as well as great introductions to the Park. (One hike that the book described as involving an "unmarked trail" was hard to distinguish from other trails from the same starting point--but we probably should have expected that!) It's probably best to buy this book along with another, more comprehensive guide to the Park: yes it involves a bit more money, but hardly anything compared to the costs of a vacation and the annoyance of going on a hike that's too hard and makes you or your family miserable. Was this review helpful?
