4 c. mini marshmallows
5-oz. can chow mein noodles
12-oz. pkg. butterscotch chips
1 c. creamy peanut butter
Toss together marshmallows and noodles; set aside. In a double boiler over medium heat, melt together butterscotch chips and peanut butter. Pour butterscotch mixture over marshmallow mixture. Stir until marshmallows are slightly melted. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper-lined baking sheets. Refrigerate for 15 minutes before serving. Makes 4 to 5 dozen.

I have several Gooseberry Patch cookie cookbooks. I must confess that my favorite is Old-Fashioned Country Cookies, copyright 1995. There is something about the complete disorganization of the recipes that I find totally charming: No categories - just cookies - drop, shaped, bar, all living together in complete harmony.
Gooseberry Patch's newest cookie book, Best-Ever Cookies, reminds me of that book. While the cookies are categorized, the topics are broad - Cookie Jar Classics, All-American, Old Fashioned, Best-Ever Brownies & Bars, and Fast & Fun - just to name a few. So, within each section, there is a large selection of cookie types.
But the common thread between these two books, the thing that pushed Best-Ever Cookies to the top of my favorites list is the baking tips included on every page. I've always been a fan of Gooseberry Patch tips scattered throughout their cookbooks, but in Best-Ever Cookies, the tips are concentrated on cookie baking and answer questions that you didn't even know you had. I strongly suggest that you read through all of the tips before attempting your next batch of cookies. You're bound to find a tip that will improve your baking.
Finally, the great thing about this cookbook is that whenever the Cookie Monster in you rises up and says, "Me want cookies!", you can look in your pantry, see what ingredients you have on hand, then flip through the cookbook until you find a recipe that fits.
