Overview

A completely updated guide to the best dog-friendly trails

• Includes 25 all-new hikes
• One of our most popular titles in the Best Hikes with Dogs series
• Great way to take in amazing vistas and walk the dog at the same time

A must for every trail hound, Best Hikes with Dogs: Western Washington, Second Edition, adds twenty-five new hikes to sixty of the region's most canine-compatible routes. Each trail is carefully selected for its scenic value, its lack of crowds, and its safety for dogs. Hikes range from easy 3-mile strolls to routes that require dogged determination, such as the 33-mile trek to Remmel Lake. These dynamic trails will leave your pup begging for more. Just don't forget to bring water!

This guide includes the Ten Canine Essentials and gives pointers for sharing the trail with others. Nelson covers everything from first aid for canines and guidelines for the leave-no-trace ethic to detailed directions and an at-a-glance comparison chart of the difficulty level, best season to go, and scenic highlights of every hike.

DAN NELSON is an outdoor columnist for the Seattle Times and a frequent contributor to Backpacker magazine. He is the author of Day Hiking: Mount Rainier, Day Hiking: South Cascades, and Day Hiking: Snoqualmie Region. He lives in Puyallup, Washington.

Great Book for Finding hikes in the Pacific Northwest

This book is a great addition to any hikers collection who have dogs. Since the Pacific Northwest has many areas that allow and don't allow dogs, this book is great in finding those best hikes with dogs. The author gives a great description of how to get to the location, description of trail, and necessary information about the trail. When I was looking for trails on-line it did not give great information on if the trails were day hikes or overnight. The book give excellent descriptions of these trails
