This is an awsome album. I can't stop playing it. Where is Volume One?
Great album! Willie has volumes of great work. His music in the late sixties and seventies had the Willie Colon signature sound. He also united all the three cultural experiences of latin music, African,European and Indigenous. Salsa never sounded so good. What's needed is a couple more volumes of his work. Wonderful biblography, by the way Yomo Toro is not from Panama but a ''jibaro'' from Puerto Rico who plays the traditional cuatro used in bombas and plenas typical of Puerto Rican folkloric music.
I just git this cd and I am pleased. I've heard it once and it sounds ok. What I find interesrting are the two social/protest songs. One the story of a young man/son who becomes gay (I almost said homosexual) and how his father is outraged and how the hero dies alone in a hospital. The other song is titled NO. and it says no to exploitation, slavery, landlords, private property, etc. very powerful. Again the booklet does not have the words in English or Spanish.
