Chapter One

INTRODUCTION TO BE!!!

OF COURSE ALL THAT I'M WRITING ABOUT HAS A LOT TO DO WITH THE INCARCERATED LIFE STYLE; BECAUSE IT IS THEY, ME, WHO HAS TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN OUR LIVES IN ORDER TO DEMOLISH THE TERRIBLE STAIN THAT'S FOLLOWED US BY THOSE OUT SIDE OUR BOX LOOKING IN AT OUR DAILY ACTIONS.

THE INCARCERATED POSSESSES, THE ABILITY TO TRANSFORM INTO THE MOST INTELLECTUAL BEINGS KNOWN TO MINDS, BUT THE QUESTION IS, WILL THEY "BE" THAT ABILITY?

I WROTE "BE" BECAUSE ANY BODY CAN BECOME SUCCESSFUL FROM NOTHING, BY JUST PUTTING YOUR MIND TO YOUR PROJECTS OF WHAT EVER IT MAY "BE".

I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT.

FOR THOSE INCARCERATED, USE YOUR TALENTS TO REACH THE UNINSPIRED TO BE AT THEIR FULL POTENTIAL OF POSITIVITY.

    BE!!!

BE BORN, BE HAPPY, BE APLIFIED WITH LIFE,
BE THERE, BE BEYOND, BE BEYOND THE
EXISTENCE OF CHAOS, AND WILLIE LYNCH'S
    CARNAGE.

    BE FREE FROM EVERYDAY ATTITUDE.

    BE FOCUS TO STIMULATE VISION,

BE THE FOOT STEPS OF HIRAM ABIFF, KING OF
    TYRE.

BE THE OVER SEER OF NATIONS.

BE ELECTRIFYING WHEN SINGING YOUR SONG,

BE CAUTIOUS OF THE TRICK KNOWLEDGE, AND
THE DECEPTION THAT PUSHES THROUGH THE
    VEINS OF THE ADDICTIVE.

    BE POSITIVE ENERGY ATTRACTS CREATIVE
    ENDEAVORS.

    BE THAT WHICH IS PERMITTED.

BE YOURSELF, AND NO ONE ELSE.

BE HOOD RICH, PROJECT POOR, BUT BE HAPPY

BE THE CONQUER OF LOW SELF ESTEEM

    BE VICTORIOUS FROM ABUSIVE
    RELATIONSHIPS.

BE THE SECOND, THIRD BLACK PRESIDENT.

BE THE WISDOM OF NEW MEANING.

    BE KNOWLEDGABLE, THE FIRST THOUGHT

BE UNDERSTOOD, REGARDLESS IF MANY TRY
TO PROVE YOUR PAST IGNORANT ACTIVITIES.

BE TRUTHFUL, AND HONEST ALTHOUGH YOU
    COULD LIE

BE THE SOLE CONTROLLER OF ALL THINGS
WITHIN THE COMPLETION OF YOUR CIPHER.

    BE THE BIBLE,

    UNDERSTAND THE QU'RAN,

BUT BEAR TESTIMONY THAT THE ONE
HUNDRED AND TWENTY DEGREE LESSONS BE
    THE FOUNDATION OF LIFE.

BE NOT THE ONE WHO WOULD LAUGH AT THE
    UGLY, THE CRIPPLED, RETARDED, HOMELESS,
    NOR THE CONVICTED,

    IT COULD "BE" YOU!!!

BE FREE FROM EVERYDAY PRIDE, AND
    POISONOUS ENVY.

BE THE ATTRIBUTE OF YOUR NAME, AND THE
    IMPRINTS THAT LEADS A NATION.

BE THE GROWTH OF HIGHER LEARNING.

BE THE SCIENTIFIC COUNSELOR OF THE LOST.

BE THE FOUNDER TO CURE ALL MUDEROUS
    DISEASES.

    BE RESPECTFUL TOWARDS YOUR ELDERS,

BE THE HELPERS TOWARDS THE DYING, THE
    DISEASED.

    BE IN LOVE,

    STAY IN LOVE WHEN RELATIONSHIPS
    EXPLODES WITH NO HOPE.

    WE ALL NEED SOME ONE.

    BE EMOTIONAL WHEN EXPRESSING YOUR
    FEELINGS.

    BE.........
BE THE HEART OF THE WISE.

BE INFINITE THOUGHT, AND THE ABSTRACT IN
    EXISTENCE.

    BE.........

Introduction to "She Past Away"

One day I was sitting on my bunk at Deep Meadows Correctional Center, and I noticed that this short little guy named Mike was crying. He was talking on the phone with someone. I didn't make anything of it, figuring that he and his girlfriend were at it again. A while later, another inmate named "Jay" approached my bunk asking to borrow my chess set. Out of curiosity I asked Jay if he knew why Mike was crying. Jay responded by saying that Mikes mother was on life support, and they would soon have to take her off of it. After hearing this, I immediately began to formulate new ideas for my writing. This piece was not an easy one to do. This was mostly because of the abusive relationship I had with my own mother. It wasn't the "normal" mother-son relationship that you come across. With that said, when writing this piece, I had to be sure that I avoided crossing any boundaries. I began to gather in my head all of the joyful experiences that I had witnessed between my friends and their mothers. I filtered through these memories and began writing. Deep down I truly wish that I could muster up some of the happier times I had within my family, but then again, some things are just better off left alone. Sorry.

    She Passed Away

    The news blew me away,
Don't know exactly what to say
Because I never thought shed leave me in
    such a way
      She was everything to me,
        Who would think?
          As wonderful as she was
God would rise up, and take her
    away
Now I'm lonely in the worst
    way
The news came while I was in the penitentiary
I feel dead, yet others recognize me
Condolences, sympathizing with me, while in
    my stressful grief
My mother left me, due to her passing
My eyes are glossy, and my mind is
    fading
I don't know how much more
I'm gonna be able to take
                  Not far from snapping
                    Completely
Why did you have to take my mother away from
    me?
      Lord, please tell me!
I feel like life isn't worth this much pain
Yet my mother has gone away
            She was the greatest thing,
Always inspiring in the perfect way
Now I just feel so dead because
    she
                        Was all I had
I remember the times when she used to make me
    laugh
Oh, the wonderful times we once had
She was the best mother any son or
    daughter could ever have
          I realize that,
All minds shall reach its last
              When God calls its time
A passing shall become the past
                  Yet, the memories will always
                    Make the loved ones
                      Laugh
Oh the way she used to laugh
You should've seen the way happiness would
    make her act
        The way people would react
Those days I'll never get back
But remember, she was all I had
May the lord keep her happy
Knowing her new resting place is
                  Within the gates of heaven
    It's been a blessing
The Lord gave my mother a better place to
    live
        I'll never forget
And, Ill love you with the greatest
    emotion
            For my mother,
              Spoken words have been expressed
    with
                The deepest expression
                  You're a blessing.

Introduction to "Pay Attention and Protect"

So many children within this age of time are becoming more exposed to the desires of life, both good and bad. Predators are turning towards many children, especially young teenagers. Becoming the victims of bad influences ... The Predators Prey. Its hard to sit on the subway amongst teenagers talking beyond their caliber. Statements of disrespect, hatred, and violence are audible. Its like their parents failed to teach them the proper ethics of living in a civilized society. When adolescents are around their friends you tend to see their true colors come out. This made me realize ... When I was younger and living at home with my parents, I felt like I couldn't talk to them about anything. They either wouldn't even hear me out, or they would cut me off before I could finish expressing my mind. It was their way, or no way.

Scolding was already determined; decisions were made without any justification, except for the fact that, my parents had me; they felt they knew what was best for me. This was far from the truth because, parents don't always make the best decisions, and this is known from my own personal experiences.

This is why I allowed my friends to become my influences. They passed no judgment, and I was able to speak my mind. I was free, and finally, I had friends who would listen, and talk to. Friends who understood my thoughts and feelings, and the reason why I wrote this poem "Pay Attention and Protect"

August 29, 2009

    Pay Attention and Protect

Many have said time and time before
If you have a child that's getting caught up in the
      realm of pain
Then it's best that you help him or her to
      refrain,
    Because once they commit,
Then they'll never be the same.
Another child's life running slowly down the drain

My mother couldn't save me, only led me astray
She played the part of abusing me in an unusual
    way
    Let me pray

    My advice to many,
Talk calmly and allow your interests to become
    more interesting,
    By listening,
    Don't become over-bearing, and demanding
    Or,
You're surely going to lose your children to the
    ones that's nearest to them.
    A life of sin.

The life of sin, feeds the soul
    The abuse of prison,
    And if its the streets,
They might be the next victims of HIV,
    Infections,
Drug addictions, in a life of sin.

If you try to talk to them,
    They wont listen
At least until its the end
    Another life draining

    Sorry for not paying attention,
    Not listening,
Forgive me for being so selfish
    My Infection,
    My drug addiction
A life destroyed by them, a life of sin
Going back to the beginning, they'll never see
    again
The agony of dying is so unforgiving
The life many have chose, by not listening

Do you think the bloods or the crypts will save
    them from the penitentiary,
When initiation is presented to them?
Arian Nation when hate is at stake,
Skinheads goal is just to murder another black
    face.
Ku Klux Klan and their universal flag
Our children, getting caught up in this life of sin.
Can parents win – over the negative influences,
That will ruin so many children?

Its time for us to come together
And prove, well rule over all the negative
    influence
    That captivates our children,
From groups infested with the devils illusions

Stand up – and take back what belongs to you,
    Our Children!

INTRODUCTION TO "ONCE REVOLVED, BUT NOW HAS CHANGED"

WHEN I WAS IN RE-ENTRY CLASS AT THE ARLINGTON COUNTY DETENTION FACILITY IN ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA; I USE TO JUST SIT BACK AND WATCH THOSE WOULD NOT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THE TEACHER.

I MEAN, THESE GUY'S HAD NO REGARD FOR WHAT THE TEACHER WAS TEACHING, THEY DIDN'T CARE.

THE TEACHER WAS THIS OLD GREY HEADED MAN WHO ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT YOUR FUTURE, AND WELL BEING.

HE HAD CONTACTS FOR JOBS, THE ABILITY TO HELP YOU WITH RESUMES, O.A.R. PROGRAM, AND HE GAVE YOU RESPECT REGARDLESS HOW YOU ACTED IN CLASS.

WHY?

BECAUSE IT WAS THEIR FUTURE THAT THEY NEEDED TO PRIORITIZE, NOT HIS.

SEE, WHEN YOU DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO ANYONE WHO IS TRYING TO HELP YOU, WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING TO HELP YOUR SELF?

BACK TO PRISON YOU GO, AND BACK TO BLAMING OTHERS FOR THE MISTAKES YOU HAVE MADE.

NOTHING CHANGES EXCEPT GETTING OLDER BEHIND A FENCE, A FENCE THAT HOLDS NO EMOTIONS TO HOW YOU REALLY FEEL INSIDE, ESPECIALLY WHEN NO ONE'S PAYING ATTENTION.

WHO WOULD PAY ATTENTION ANYWAY TO SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T PAY ANY ATTENTION?

THIS SPOKING WORD FORMAT IS DEDICATED TO THE MAN WHO RUN'S THE RE-ENTRY CLASS AT ARLINGTON CO. DETENTION FACILITY BECAUSE HE CHANGED MY LIFE.

THANK YOU.

    "ONCE REVOLVED, BUT NOW HAS
    CHANGE"

Introduction to I AM

"I AM" became an inspiration to me because I have come to realize that dreams can come true. If we put that one foot forward, and push ourselves to a driving purpose. We can do anything, and become the most influential person imaginable-prisoners, inmates, convicts, or convicted felons. I believe I am living proof that we are dream fulfillers because of our past, our experiences, and our ancestors. These things have paved the perfect road that guides us through continuous paths full of twists, and turns, and forks in the road.

Following this path in the right direction will allow us all to become successful. My path has helped me to write "I AM."

Introduction to The best gift

February 2, 2009 I had just been transferred from Powhatan correctional receiving to deep meadows correctional center,

I was sitting on my bunk listening out for my name to called for mail

When my name was called, I'd noticed that my wife had sent me (3) cards and (2) letters

I was shocked because in prison, everyone is watching, and when you start receiving three and Four pieces of mail at one time throughout the week

Then that's big

I was happy because my wife was right there by my side not giving up on me, like many women do to their husbands, or boy friends that are incarcerated

My wife was my best gift as I thought to my self

And this was the reason I wrote this piece. In dedication to her

Which I do appreciate with all my life

Thank you so much.
