Hannah is not interested in getting married - she just wants to explore the ancient church.
Miles wants to marry an experienced woman who knows how to get on in society and who likes the country and who will love the daughters of his first marriage.
Miles definitely isn't interested in someone like Hannah who will expect to be loved and expect attention.
I love this book. I had it a few years ago from the library and was really happy to rediscover it in an ebook. The romance was believable and the characters realistic.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Candace Hern invites you into the Regency world and gives you a delightful visit. Her characters are likable and you find yourself engaged in their lives, wanting to know more when the book is finished. This book is part of my permanent library and I look forward to reading it again.

It was a little sad to realize, at the end of the Garden Foley, that the Earl fo Strickland was not going to get his woman. Thank goodness for The Best Intentions. I couldn't wait to read this book, because I liked him.
I do have to admit that, half-way through the book, I wanted to reach in and choke him. I thought for sure, he was going to pick the wrong sister.
You know a book is good, when you want to choke someone that doesn't even exist. FYI - you don't have to read the Garden Foley, bot enjoy this, but you should.

I loved this story. Miles, the Earl of Strickland in "A Garden Dolly" he was in search for a wife since his wife had died two years ago and he has two little girls. His intentions are not to marry without love until he meets Hannah a twenty year old. He tries to ignore the feelings he is having but to no avail. Hannah finds she has fallen in love with Miles but after a kiss decides she can't hurt her sister so when she hears Miles talking to his wife about how he has fallen in love and he is going to ask her to marry him. Hannah thinks its her sister and runs off with Miles brother to her brother's estate. Any all ends great with Miles finding Hannah, tells her he loves her and she returns his love. His brother and Rachael finally decide to get married as well. Great story. Love all of Candice Hern books.

This one will make you laugh and cry and sigh at the inevitable happy ending. Hannah is now one of my all time favorite heroines. Funny, smart, clutzy, and insecure, she is so well-written, so alive on the page that she practically breathes. She was the perfect foil for the dignified earl. His character is equally well-drawn, but it was Hannah who stole my heart. Kudos to Candice Hern on a truly brilliant book.

I absolutely love this book. While being terribly romantic it is also very funny. Hannah, the irrepessible heroine, completely steals the show, and her inability to curb her tongue had me laughing out loud several times. The hero, Miles, starts out as a still-grieving widower but his transformation into a man ready to love again is credible and moving. I loved this when I first read it years ago, and just had to buy this new ebook version (with the stunning new cover) and re-read it. Still loved it!

If you enjoy Regency romances, this book is for you. The characters and plot were a little different. It was fun to see how problems were resolved. I would read another of this author's books.

This is the first Regency Romance novel that I've read and I love it. It has a great romantic story line, but what I enjoyed the best is that it isn't a trashy novel. So many romance novels are pretty graphic, so it was refreshing to read a book that was clean.

Loved the main character a lot, but over all this was a very simple quick book. No real tention or much depth to the whole plot. Romantic in a general kind of way, but no spice or sizzle what so ever. Not a bad book, just not one of my favorites nor am I overly interested in this author's other works.

This is one of my favorite regency romances about an unconventional heroine who is bookish and clumsy, but who just might unintentionally steal the earl out from under her beautiful, graceful sister, who is everything the earl thinks he is looking for to replace his beloved late wife. I loved reading about Hannah and all the scrapes she gets into and her misguided attempts to live up to her sister's high ideals. She is a wonderful character who makes this book truly memorable.

It's hard to find a good regency novel, that's not your typical. This one certainly isn't and the author puts together a very intriguing read. Not over dramatic or unbelievable, and a very original idea. Some of her lines are very moving, but I thought that they showed that the book as a whole could have been written even better. There was some (although not enough for my taste) refreshing humor which you don't see too often in regencys. All in all it was a book that's worth reading.

Overview
Customers who enjoy the traditional Regency Romances of Georgette Heyer, Barbara Metzger, and Carla Kelly will enjoy this witty Regency romp by New York Times bestselling author Candice Hern. The Earl of Strickland is a handsome widower in search of a new wife to be a mother to his two young children. Having lost his one true love, he is determined on a practical, dispassionate match with a mature woman. Young girls in their first Seasons, their heads full of romantic notions of love, are not for him. When his sister comes to visit bringing along a beautiful widow, Miles thinks he may have found the perfect match. But the widow is chaperoning her gauche, much younger sister, an artless girl who causes Miles's best
