EMI's 100 Best Piano Classics is a six-CD set focused on the standard keyboard repertoire of the Classical and Romantic eras. The most familiar names associated with piano music are represented here, including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, Ludwig van Beethoven, Sergey Rachmaninov, Claude Debussy, and many other celebrated composers who worked at the keyboard and wrote much of their best music for it. Included are great performances by illustrious pianists such as Martha Argerich, Sviatoslav Richter, Aldo Ciccolini, Emil Gilels, Maurizio Pollini, Christian Zacharias, and others who have had long and distinguished careers recording for EMI. The performances span several decades, but because specific years are not given in the tracklisting, experienced listeners may resort to educated guesswork, while everyone else must take the copyright dates 1988 to 2001 on faith as the range of recording sessions . As is usually the case with these multi-disc surveys, the sound is a little variable, but EMI has balanced the volume well enough that the whole set may be played comfortably at home without need of adjustments.

Some of the tracks are just extracts.

I didn't notice this before I purchased this CD, but some of the tracks are extracts, which is dissappointing. Just something to watch out for if you are expecting full tracks. :)
