I am a teacher. I've read much of its content and agree with some of its content. But was turned off by its painting several conservative's views on education in a negative light(see pps.7,137,188). I believe that Zemelman, Daniels, and Hyde along with other scholarly authors who are wanting to improve education should keep away from the practice of slamming other's views in their publications.This was not necessary; it should have been left out. If the authors of Best Practice were going to mention such people as they did on p. 188, they should have been fair and included E.D. Hirsch et al. publications on the matter in the 'Suggested Further Readings' list(pps. 188-189) so that readers/parents/educators had an opportunity to research/compare views. Of course any discriminating person after reading Best Practice will research these opponents and find out they don't bite. I have, they are friendly.
