Overview

More and more people today are discovering the quiet, reflective pleasures of needlepoint---a time-honored art that is rapidly becoming one of America's most popular hobbies.

Leading needlepoint expert Beth Russell has created a book of rich and classic needlepoint designs that will bring color and warmth to any home, whether traditional or modern. Her vivid designs are based on the work of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement, and can be done with pleasure and ease by everyone from beginners to the most accomplished expert.

This beautifully photographed and illustrated guide will lead everyone from novice to expert through each step of the needlepoint process. Not only does it offer the perfect source of inspiration for using needlepoint around your home but it is also the ideal gift for any stitcher.

Editorial Reviews

Barbara Jacobs
The surging prices for Frank Lloyd Wright stuff as well as for mission-style and arts-and-crafts furniture bode well for Russell's designs. Addicted to the style of William Morris and his followers, she faithfully translates their undulating, elegant geometrics, flowers, birds, and beasts to linen and canvas. The color photographs, graphs, and instructions are all any stitcher could hope for. A treat is the more than 20 designs; each includes the provenance of the original pattern. Fortunately, the homes of needlework addicts (and their friends) are blessed with a profusion of pillows; Russell also features a handbag, rugs, a bellpull, and a fire screen to fashion. Appended are lists of where to buy kits and materials, and places to visit.
