More than a love story, more than a mystery, more than a good versus evil, more than... you get the idea. K. H. LeMonye has created a vital world where the humans and Guardians come back together to reclaim their symbiotic relationship.  Turnan and Mia form the foundation of this new beginning. Their relationship grows and you see each of them come into their own during the course of their tale. If that was it alone, it would be a wonderful love story with all the trials and tribulations that befall them, but there is more. Salvatore and Xavier who intertwined through this story you’re never how they story lines are going to play out. They add the twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat.  Characters that will follow in the series have their introductions too.  Betrayal’s Shadow is masterfully written, a spell binding treat that left me ready to read the next book—Warrior Reborn

LeMoyne employs a smooth writing style that highlights the action and simmers through the downtime in the story. The minute transitions in writing style between the different types of scenes really draw the reader into the story with little effort. The tension in the story plays out through the words used and mode of storytelling employed during that section of the story. The same can be said for other emotions that are prominent in certain scenes.  Not only does LeMoyne’s writing style draw you in, but so does her subject matter. This is one of those stories that goes beyond being unique. She doesn’t just give an old subject a new twist, but rather, takes a completely new subject and runs far with it. It was enthralled and intrigued throughout. Sure, there were a couple of times where the story was a little dense as new theories were laid out and various events were explained, but being the first novel in a series on a previously unknown topic this is unavoidable. Even while this was happening the story still held my full attention and once these theories were laid out the story was off and running and I couldn’t put it down.  This story had a rather large cast of main characters, but each and every one was well developed. They also all had important roles to play and were developed to suit a specific role and purpose. I loved how varied the characters in this novel are. They are so different personally, physically, and in abilities. Their names are all unique but memorable, and easy to remember. This helps the reader keep this widely varied cast of characters straight without having to rack your brain for that really cool, weird name that you just can’t remember. This was a phenomenal beginning to the series as well as a brilliant standalone novel. By the end I couldn’t put it down and was thanking my lucky stars that there was a sequel since I can’t wait to spend more time with the brilliant characters. Please note that I received this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review

This book starts off really confusing, it takes a few chapters to begin understanding what is happening and who the characters are. Even though this makes readers want to stop reading, I would suggest to muddle through because the book does get interesting and a whole lot better. The story line was different/unique as were the characters, Mia's character was very strong, stubborn, witty and quite likable. The Guardians are very protective of their women; but not in an overbearing, insulting way, which was refreshing to read. The book was very well written and I look forward to reading more works by this author, including the rest of this series! SR

LOVED this book. It begins with a deeply rooted love story which quickly evolves into a mystery and suspense. Who knew there could be chaos amongst God's Angels? Couldn't stop turning pages until the end.

I didn't expect much when i began reading this book, assuming it would be simple filler between books by my favorite authors. I've never been happier to be wrong. the plot was fresh and interesting, with plenty of twists to keep my attention. While some areas were touched on without ever being fully explained, i enjoyed the ride, and in the end, i was satisfied with the story.

this book was so great, I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! the story had great detail, the descriptions were very vivid. when I read about Turen's captivity, I could picture it so clearly it made me sick. And a whole chapter devoted to Turen and Mia's first time making love--oh my gosh! when Turen described how they could "see" each other in the dark by their bodies' responses, it was so sweet and sexy. I read that chapter more than once! the story had great pacing and you really care about all the characters. I can't wait to read the next book to see if more Guardians find their mates!

Oh. My. This one was amazing. Since the first page it gave me a bunch of questions I was eager to get answers to. And it got even better. There was constant tightness in the air. New questions and secrets coming out keeps you guessing what truth lies behind all of this. Characters were so likable and intriguing what I've become so close to them like my own flesh and blood. The story was compelling and it really grips you. I've got involved in it so easily and was hungry to read more and more. Once I've finished I am eager to get more of this story. I would definitely love to read sequels. This book was provided from the author in exchange for honest review.

Turen allows himself to be captured by Xavier's people in order to gain information as to why Xavier's mate and child were murdered. Turen along with Isa want to find the truth. Meanwhile Mia Bowman goes to sleep in her bed yet finds herself magically transported to a dungeon. She sees handsome stranger being beaten and struggles to keep from giving away her position. Turen covers for mystery woman and wonders why she's there. As Turen and Mia discover more about each other, one thing becomes clear Mia is Turen's mate which is surprising because she's human. Yet the truth cannot be denied no matter what. Back at Sanctum, Salvatore is finding more reasons to use his metal creations versus the already trained warriors. Mia discovers that she can access The Archive of Turen's people with surprising results. Mia believes the knowledge that Isa found a mate outside of Sanctum lead to her death is the only leverage she has in freeing Turen from Xavier's grasp. Is Xavier right? Who is behind Isa's death? Your answers await you in Betrayal's Shadow. I found this book to be compelling in it's storytelling and uniqueness. I found the characters to be raw, real, honest, down to earth, humbling, and very emotional too. I'm definitely going to continue with this series. I look forward to reading more of this author's work in the future.
