Editorial Reviews

Midwest Book Review
You can have it all, but if love evades you, what's the point? "Betrayed" follows Darrel "The Sandman" Jenkins as he pursues Sherrice Valdez. Love would be complicated enough alone but Darrel's business, one that doesn't agree the most with the law, soon starts to face problems and drama begins to flare up all around him. Darrel has to settle everything around him as they try to break apart, while not spoiling his chance at love. "Betrayed" is riveting urban fiction, highly recommended.

(Spoiler Alert)Betrayed was a very good. I loved the way the paragraphs flowed together. The character of The Sandman was young to be a "DRUG LORD/KING" he was moving to slow on who was setting him up. I figured that out in the middle of the book. I liked his character and was surprised that he was killed off. I look forward to reading the sequel to this book.

This book is a great read! Enjoyable to the end. Author David Givens is a clever weaver of ambition, deceit, and betrayal. The story is masterfully told, and the characters are complete and well rounded. Mr. Givens leaves you in suspense and keeps you guessing, constantly wondering what will heppen next. No spoilers here. You MUST read it for yourself! Kudos to you, David Givens... job well done!

Darrell aka Sandman is the kingpin of the streets. He has all that he wants except love in his life. With a backstabbing no good babymama name KeKe that he no longer cares for always on his back to get back together and the streets heating up he needs something to take his mine of things. That's when he meets Sherrice in a strip club and they connect instantly. Darrell thinks that he has found the love of life but little does he know somebody around him is out to get him. And the fairy tale life

    Surprise ending!

I purchased my copy of Betrayed from the Harlem Book Fair and was not disappointed. I loved the twists, kept me guessing the entire time. David did a good job for his debut title, can't wait to see what's next. Keep them coming TCP!

    Explosive Urban Drama!

Darrell Jenkins, "The Sandman", is a young man from the streets of Waterloo, Iowa who is running things in a big way. In the drug business, you can't have too many friends, because there is always someone watching and waiting to take your place. Darrell is handling his business when things get crazy. In the attempt to control the entire city, people are turning up dead left and right. The police are trying to get a handle on the situation. There is a drug war going on and Darrell has to stay ahead of the police. He also realizes that someone on the inside is trying to set him up. Then he meets Sherrice Valdez and falls in love! Sherrice has hit a few rough spots and is trying to get her act together. She meets Darrell and things really start to look bright. Love has a way of making a man let his guard down. The rollercoaster ride begins in love and war. This book has lots of drama to offer and will keep you turning the pages. I can't wait for the second part of this book to come out. --EbonyReader4Life (Circle of Color Book Club)

'The Act of moving forward not backwards'

The Get Money Crew via the way of Waterloo, Iowa is led by Darryl Jenkins aka the Sandman. The sandman is not the man to mess with in Waterloo. He eats and sleeps power within the game. Darryl is reserved and low key but who can blame him in his position. Terry is the lieutenant in the GMC he and D go back as far as Boston Bake beans and Bazooka Joe Bubblegum. Terry is the loud, arrogant, and the dangerous one. I really enjoyed Betrayed on a scale of 1 to 5 I give it a 5 for excellent read. There were a few typing errors in the book, and yes I had to go back and re-read certain sentences to make sure I was not the crazy one. Betrayed kept me entertained and I love how Mr. Givens brings the characters in the book, and a nice pace. He doesn't have characters being thrown all around the book so it's not hard to keep up. Betrayed is mixed with the genre of a movie that persist of drama, mystery, and thriller. Once the moral of the story comes together at the end of the book, you will be shaking your head, screaming out loud, and saying get the heck out of here. The moral of the story is making a move without checking every angle will remind you why real N-word does things out in the open.

    Betrayed

Darrell Jenkins known as 'The Sandman' is doing big things in Waterloo, Iowa. With the help of his crew GMC getting money in the streets is his way of life. Taking the Midwest by storm Darell is determined to take over every aspect of the streets. Very proud of what he has accomplished, there is one thing that is missing from his life and that is the love and trust of a good woman. Being hurt in the past by his baby momma Darrell has trust issues with women, until he sees a beautiful bombshell Sherrice Valdez during a brief encounter. Both feels the sparks flying and there heartbeats going pitter patter. Darrell knew that she was the was the one, or is she? Things spew out of control in the streets and there begins a World War III. With so much that's going on, who can Darell really trust? Take a ride on the wild side with 'The GMC Crew' and find out who is really BETRAYED. Betrayed blew my mind. This book really had me going, especially the ending I was in total shock. There was plenty of drama, suspense, blood shed that you can imagine. As the saying goes 'Keep your friends close and your enemies closer'. Tangerine, 'Reader's Paradise Book Club'
