Character Development: This is were Wodke and Hawkinson (two authors) shine the most. They have this innate ability to draw the reader as close as family to their characters. Your heart will break for Brook and your rage will tear at you to be released.

Betrayed is one story that wastes no time. The reader is thrown right into the thick of the action right from the first chapter and from that point forward I found the book nearly impossible to put down. Brook, a wealthy woman, is torn from her safe and civilized lifestyle when she is abducted by what appears to be a group of car thieves. The reader feels her pain and terror as she is cruelly brutalized by her captors and cheers her on as she tries to escape. The horrific experience launches Brook into unfamiliar territory, adventure and betrayal, leading up to a satisfying conclusion. I will definitely be picking up other books by these outstanding authors.

The premise of the book held so much promise. The dialogue was absolutely horrible, I skipped over it repeatedly. Not that it really helped because the descriptive paras were just as bad... I never felt Brooks fear or really any of her emotons. I actually laughed at the part were she decided Lance was going to kill her ("he would kill her!" - maybe it was the explanation point.) Save your money.

The first part of the book is a brutal and hard to read. Many times I wanted to put the book aside but I kept reading in anticipation of better things to come- and I was not disappointed. The second part of the book is about love and redemption and was very heart-warming. There were things I didn't like- at times it seemed preachy and I found the ending sub-par; however, this author recently put out an alternate ending which was much improved IMO.

I almost had to put this book down because of the disturbing beginning, but Im so glad I didnt. The second part of the book was truly heartwarming, and I would have given this book a higher rating, if only the author knew how to use a comma...

The beginning of the book was really grim but overall a good read.  From the first page I could not put this book down I just had to know what was going to happen!

The beginning of the book really started out intensely,  all the way through her capture until her escape.  The scene of her capture was graphic at the start.  However, once she escaped the story moved at a much slower pace.  The dialog did not always flow naturally  After that point, what really kept me turning the pages was trying to see how it came together at the end.     Once we were on the downhill side of the book the story moved from slow to downright frustrating.  I didn't understand all of Brook's choices at that point.     Over all, the story was mediocre, nothing i would encourage anyone to read.  My advice is to skip this one and move to the next book on your list.

It does start off pretty harsh to say the least, but what comes after I enjoyed. You need to take a breather at the beginning, it does pass and there is a love story that is worth making it through the really bad. The two main characters fit so well together that when she left it killed me, I was ready to close the book then but had to find out what happened, glad I did. Don't let the harshness of the beginning stop you from reading it, if you find it is too much, go past those parts, it does get better.

Loved this, raw intense and emotional. Brook inspires hope in a horrible situation. The rape scenes were honest, not romanticized. I would not put this book in erotica. This was not consentual. Howeved u feel pain and feel how shs deopens herseld for love.. excellent book!4.5

I liked the book.   Survival through a horrible ordeal.     I also read, Betrayed-Alternate ending.       I did not care for the  alternate ending.   To much of the blood, guts and tears for the alternate ending. Guess I am just the romantic to like the first happy ending.  I think the first ending, shows how a woman who survived nearly being killed, became a stronger person.  The way she came back from her ordeal, finding how to recover, and to love again after so much pain. to take to a simple life.  no luxury and feel herself live again.   Truly beautiful.  And she also gave the young man a new beginning. For him  love again also.

I can't think about the terrible experience the woman had to suffer. But in the end all was beautiful.

I liked the story line alot but i felt it was too fast paced with little detail inside each character. The overall book was good but to be honest i probably wouldnt reccomend this book to anyone else.

While reading the first few chapters of this book, I didn't think I was going to like it. However, I am glad I did. This book turned out to be very touching and exciting. As the events unfolded and you got to know the characters, you couldn't help but like the book. Very heartwarming ending. I will definitely check out other books by this author.
