I especially enjoyed the section on “Prenatal Yoga” complete with photos of the poses…with actual pregnant women. And, I also found the section on “Addressing Your Birth Plan” extremely helpful, as it lists key questions you should be considering before you have your baby. But, this only scratches the surface on what’s covered. I recommend that you visit Denise’s site, BetterBirthBook.com, to learn more and/or pick up a copy of her book. You won’t be sorry, you'll be empowered! (DivineCaroline.com, May 11, 2009)

Denise Spatafora's, Better Birth, Empowered me to focus on what I truly wanted out of my second pregnancy and birth. Reading Better Birth was life-changing and inspiring. I still refer to the pages of Denise's teachings.

I was expecting my second child and I found myself a little lost until I started reading Better Birth. I wanted this pregnancy and delivery to be different than my first. I wanted to have more control over my body and emotions. After reading Better Birth, I was able to do just that. I had more control and was able to focus on what I truly wanted out of this pregnancy and birth. When it came time for delivery, I was able to utilize the teachings that Denise shares within the pages of Better Birth. My delivery was beautiful and was perfect for me. Even beyond delivery I still refer to the pages of Denise's teachings.

Denise Spatafora writes an empowering book, allowing the reader to challenge herself and create a birth plan tailored to her needs and wants. Better Birth takes the worries and fear out of pregnancy and provides the expectant with an understanding that she has the ability to take control of her body and emotions during this vulnerable time. Regardless if you are a first time expectant or seasoned mom, this book will touch you on every level.

Groundbreaking Way to Birth (and Live!)

The Born Clear Book made us aware of how our emotions and fears effect our babies and our births. The tools Denise supplied us allowed us to clear away anything that was worrying us or getting in our way of a clear birth. They were tantamount to the beautiful and intense experience that was the birth of our son. Her explanations of the mechanics of the birthing process and the emotional components that effect how we birth made it possible for us to clear away any issues and clutter that would have blocked the birthing process and allowed us to bask in the moment. Our baby is incredibly calm, and I can't help but associate the clarity and peace we had going into his bir,th with the guidance Denise gave us. Her advice can be used before, during and into the life of your child. Denise makes you face your fears and do the work, and it pays off in folds! I can't recommend it enough.

Better Birth is the Ultimate Guide!

Better Birth is a must read for expecting moms and dads and should also be required reading for birth instructors, midwives, doulas and the hospital staff involved with delivering babies. Denise empowers her readers to join a world-wide movement of becoming familiar with the mind-body connection and illuminates many modalities that support the pregnancy and birthing experience, making it a miraculous adventure. Her approach and clear explanations link Eastern and Western traditions, and scientific and intuitive methods which can be used to create a powerful and positive birth for parents and their babies. By putting her technologies into practice, we should expect a whole new generation of incredible children who have been conceived and birthed with this level of consciousness and love.

Although I have already passed my child-bearing years, I am using the Better Birth methods to "conceive and birth" new projects in my life.

Denise Spatafora is a living model of her words of wisdom. I have known her well for many years and she practices deeply all that she shares with her readers. She is a woman of great wisdom and compassion and many shall be blessed with a Better Birth and a better Life because of her and this book!

The book every expectant mother and couple should read

Often times when I am working as a doula with couples I try to impress upon them that giving birth is 90% an emotional/spiritual experience. A woman is not only giving birth to a new human being, but to herself as a mother, and what's more, she is giving birth to a new family. Not only this, but birth is one of the most primal experiences a human being can go through and in that it calls upon the deepest parts of your being to be faced, dealt with, challenged, and ultimately called upon.
Finally, with the publication of Denise's book, BetterBirth, I have a resource I can hand to my clients to help them get at this core. Denise's book, which is the exceptionally beautiful culmination of a life's work of supporting, coaching, and challenging people to be the best they can be combined with her expertise in childbirth, is a treasure trove of useful tools and information to help parents prepare for this most auspicious rite of passage in life. Denise book gives practical information on how to prepare mentally, physically, and spiritually for the birth of your new child. Everything from her toolbox with helpful tips on preparing one's body for the birthing process, to her very thoughtful and thorough tips on how to plan for the immediate postpartum period, this book is chock-full of useful information.
This book is amazing and I can't think of anything better for a couple to read - in fact, I hope that each and every couple gets this book in their hands as soon as they realize they are pregnant. This book will prepare women for birth in a way not found in other birth preparation books. What a gift Denise has given women and couples!

A new meaning to your "Birth Place". Not only are you born in a mapped location, but what state of mind and personal peace your Mother is in at the time of her pregnancy and your birth will determine your emotional and physical health.

As a man, reading this book reminded me of the power we naturally hold as human beings (in the way of procreation), but more so of the responsibility a woman "carries" in the process of nurturing and delivering new Life to this Earth.
The education in this book has prepared me to believe and be a TRUE partner on every level of the pre-birth to birth of my child.
To me, birth is no longer a woman's mystery, but a Family story that we write together.
