Overview

Although it isn't as focused or direct as After the Storm, Better Days Ahead showcases Norman Brown's growth as a musician. Brown seamlessly fuses jazz, R&B, pop, and soul together, creating a distinctive hybrid that has the technique of an accomplished jazz musician and the accessibility of pop. The songs on Better Days Ahead aren't quite as memorable as those on After the Storm, but Brown's dazzling ability on the guitar makes it worthwhile listening.

When I first heard Norman Brown on the radio, it was his song Paradise from the Celebration album. I loved that song so much that I decided to follow his work and look into other albums of his as well. Then I can across this album and I was so amazed. The track Better Days Ahead is by far the best song that Brown has ever done! It is so encouraging and I love that its only instrumental because you can put your own words and feelings to the song itself. I loved the whole album, songs such as After the Love is Gone, Come Closer to Me, Your Body's Callin, and I could go on and on, but then why should I? Buy the CD and see what I am raving about! Norman Brown is truly talented and I cannot wait to purchase After the Storm. I will await his fifth album as well.
