Overview

In this seductive new novella from New York Times bestselling author Sydney Landon, Mia Gentry refuses to give up her independence—until Seth Jackson shows her just how hot losing control can be…

Living the life of a rich socialite was never in Mia’s plans, much to the chagrin of her wealthy parents. She’s made her own way, studying computer science at Brown and snagging a coveted position with Danvers International after graduation. Her plan to avoid parental involvement seems to be going well until her mother buys her a date at a charity auction—with the hot resort owner who she’s been eyeing on her latest work project.

Seth never mixes business with pleasure, but something about Mia drives him to distraction. Giving into his desires for just one night will hopefully clear his head enough to keep his hands off her during office hours.

But when one mind-blowing night turns into weeks of flirtation, frustration, and companionship, Mia realizes that their workplace fling may be developing into more—and that Seth might be the perfect man she’s been waiting for…

4, but could have been 5 star review Mia is a socialite who has never embraced the life. She has gone to college and worked hard at Danvers in it's IT department. She has been assigned a great project working at Oceanix Resort. Her contact their is Seth Jackson. The two are definitely attracted to each other and due to some meddling on her mother's part, Mia finds herself sharing an intimate meal with Seth. Due to the work situation, further interactions are almost strictly business and both are anticipating project completion. Just like any other great romance novel, there is a major mistake before the two get their chance at the HEA. The sexual chemistry between the two is amazing and I loved reading it. I have never read any of the other books in the Danvers series and I don't feel it put me at a disadvantage. There may have been more familiarity with Seth and some other characters like Suzy who shows up briefly in the story, but once again, I still felt I could fully appreciate the story. The other characters in this story are great. Margie, Seth's assistant injected some humor into the story and I loved her no nonsense way of dealing with Seth. Hank, Mia's boss was supportive and I loved his conversation with her regarding her dinner meeting with Seth. Another bonus was the length of this story. Although it is a novella, I found there was a lot of substance and read more like a regular novel for me. So with all this love I have for this book, you may wonder why I only went with 4 stars. Well because I was totally disappointed with the ending. Literally I was fuming as I read it and I couldn't believe that was all there was. Seriously. The ending seem to come out of left field, and after the hurt Mia felt, I can't believe that was all it took. I mean really, kinky sex is what is gonna bring them back to each other?? So yes, I really enjoyed this story right up until the 90% mark. If you have read other books in this story I think you will enjoy this one, and even if you hadn't you most likely will still enjoy this. Just take my warning that the ending may be a let down. Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I'm really disappointed in this book. First of all 94 pages??? Seriously? It was sooo not worth the time and money. It should've free in this case. Very disappointed that this came from the same author. -_-

This story is listed as book 4.5 in The DANVERS series by Sydney Landon.  If you have read the other books this book is a perfect compliment to them and a really wonderful story.  I love that Seth and Mia are so real and honest with one another even though it may hurt.   Later in the book when they realize they have feelings for one another is when we run into interference done in with an ex-girlfriend for Seth and mother interest for Mia.  They have a pretty good friendship and lots of sparks that bounce off one another.     All the fun characters from the earlier books are present in this story and play a little matchmaking on these two as well.  Suzy especially loves Mia's shoes!   In typical grand fashion, Ms Landon gives us a great read mixed in with a little angst, a hot couple and funny banter.  I give this one a 5/5 paws!!  Kitty loved this book and hopes you will too!   Out now - this is a perfect book to read when you are in the mood for great romance!

I don't mind that it was short. What I do mind is that the hero was an ass. Mia should have sent him packing. Plus the ending....well...sucked.

Why was this book so short? It could have been a great story and it only just got started. I have been following this series and I really do not know why the author wrote this novella. Are they going to be part of the next longer book? Mia and Seth are not really essential to this series. I do love that we get a glimpse of Suzy again. I love that woman.

Disappointed I've read all the books in the Danver's series and this one was not up to the standards set by the previous books. First of all, it is very short. 94 pages and the first page of Chapter 1 is page 8. The last page of the epilogue is page 86. The rest of the book is an excerpt from Fighting For You (Ella and Declan's story, which I'm sure most of the readers of this series have already read). For a book that was essentially 76 pages of text, $3.99 is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. Other novella's of comparable length by established writers may be in the area of $.99. Next, the male lead Seth is a jerk. Not gonna put any spoilers here for those who will be reading this book but if I was Mia I would have kicked him to the curb. Maybe if this would have been a longer book he may have redeemed himself. I did like Mia, and I liked the ongoing relationship between Mia and her mother. I will look forward to the next book in this series, hopefully it will re-catch my interest. This book didn't do it for me.

I just finished reading “Betting on You” by the amazing Sydney Landon. This Novella of Sydney’s is another great book in the Danvers’ series! You will love the story of Mia and Seth. Seth Jackson is an amazingly handsome billionaire who hires someone from Danvers to work on the latest project at Oceanix Resort. When Mia Gentry shows up sparks begin to fly between the two of them. Both thinking they have to keep this relationship on a business level, never expect Mia’s manipulative mother to buy a date with Seth for Mia at a charity auction! After many drinks, the evening turns into one amazing night for this couple!! You can only imagine what happens when they are expected to work together and not mix business with pleasure! WOW this is another spectacular book in true Landon style! If you have not read any of the Danvers’ series, you are really missing out. You will love this book and Sydney Landon’s writing style!!!

It started well but then went downhill and crashed. I get that it is a novella and it is going to be short, but you still expect a decent plot and character development. This book lacked both. Half way in, the scenes and dialogs became so absurd that I actually laughed (really laughed). There was no romance, just a few sex scenes that had little appeal and no substance. Considering how much I liked the other books in the series, I wondered if this one had been written by another author (and a bad one). How this book could get good reviews is beyond me. In my opinion, it is not worth the money and time.

**JUST BOOKED received an ARC by the Publisher, via Netgalley, for an Honest Review** ROMANTIC COMEDY…MAN YOU LIKE GETS AUCTIONED…MOM BUYS DATE!  Betting On You is the novella following the fourth novel, Fighting For You, in the Danvers series in which could be read as a standalone novel too. Betting On You left me wanting more than just a novella, Sydney Landon’s Danvers series is WONDERFUL and always ready to read any of her novels. Betting On You is about Seth Jackson a striking billionaire bachelor who shuns from relationships, until he meets Mia Gentry. Mia works for Danvers International and has been assign to work on a project at Oceanix Resort to install a security system. When the beautiful sassy smart-mouth techie starts talking about IT equipment, Seth could not help of thinking indecent thoughts nor control his body’s reaction towards Mia. “I’m going over your equipment now. Do you want to keep your hard drive? I can dispose of it, but some people are funny about that.” - Mia Although Mia is a techie and currently employed, Mia comes from a privilege and posh upbringing. Mia prides herself for finishing her college education and obtaining a profession without the affluence of her family. Mia discovers that Seth is participating in a charity bachelor auction for the new children’s hospital and will be auction off to the highest bidder. The charity just happens to be the charity her mother is organizing, who knew that Seth and her parents ran with the same circles of acquaintances. Seth volunteering for the event has Mia realizing that he may be more than an instantaneous physical attraction, but maybe something more. Mia is now starting to feel jealousy, because other women were bidding on Seth and all she could think was that some cougar was going to go out on a date with Seth. “Your mother bought me?” - Seth Betting On You is a FUNNY LOVE STORY that will capture your attention immediately on the adventures with Seth and Mia. Sydney Landon’s novella, Betting On You, will have you laughing uncontrollably.  I rate Sydney Landon’s novella in the Danvers series, Betting On You - 4 AMAZING STARS!

Betting on You is a story I really enjoyed.  I really like Mia (and her shoes), which you will understand when you read the novel.  Mia and Seth were both introduced in previous books in the series, and though I've not read them all yet, and have read them out of order, it was easy to follow along, as they read as companion novels and not really sequels.  Mia's character is really fun and I enjoyed her a lot.  Her inner rants were hilarious at times.  I also liked Seth.  He seemed a little insecure in the beginning, again with himself, something he camouflaged well though.  Actually, they both did, but boy when things heat up, he reveals a dominant and sexy side that shows what he's really made of.  There is a lot of sexual tension between the two, as there are rules against Danvers employees having relationships with the clients they work for, and Mia is working for Seth, but that just makes everything more interesting.  There is some drama and some hurt feelings, but the romance is really great, and built up over the time they spent together during their "no touching" period when Mia was working for Seth.   Betting on You is a wonderful novella, and though short, feels very complete.  I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it.

I love the Danvers Series and this one did not disappoint!! Mia is funny, sexy and independent and Seth is sexy and a little bitter from a date gone wrong. (You have to read the book, funny beginning). Mia's mom buys her a date with Seth and the chemistry begins heating up!!  Everything I expect in a Sydney Landon book and I can't wait to read the next book in the Danvers Series!!
