Many of us know that Betty White has numerous Emmys (seven, to be exact) and that she is the oldest person to have ever hosted Saturday Night Live, but who among us would guess that this lifelong animal lover served as the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Commissioner for eight years? In Betty and Her Friends, America's most beloved 89-year-old sexpot shares humorous, enduring stories about her buddies at the zoos. P.S. The color photographs of gorillas, giraffes, and baby animals perfectly fit the tone of White's tribute to our unconditionally loving fellow creatures.

This is a 90 page book with some of the pages containing only pictures. This is Betty White telling why she enjoys zoo's and, why they are important when they are well run. She's had a deep love of animals all of her life and she will give you animals that have been saved from extinction because of zoo's. There is no denying that she has a deep love for these animals and all animals. As an animal lover from childhood myself, I learned a lot. It was a light, enjoyable read.
