Overview

“I reread BETTY WHITE IN PERSON and I was fascinated, naturally?-because it was about ME. But I was also intrigued by my perspective of TV twenty-five years ago, little dreaming that this old broad would still be hanging around and still be in the same business, and talking about an electronic edition of this book!”
This memoir, the first book Betty White wrote by herself, was written during the second season of "The Golden Girls." She shares about the people she was closest to, about what in this world makes ...

But I was also intrigued by my perspective of TV twenty-five years ago, little dreaming that this old broad would still be hanging around and still be in the same business, and talking about an electronic edition of this book!”
This memoir, the first book Betty White wrote by herself, was written during the second season of "The Golden Girls." She shares about the people she was closest to, about what in this world makes her laugh, what makes her cry, what she hates and what she loves. In BETTY WHITE IN PERSON you will quickly discover that the woman behind the endearing celebrity has always been one and the same. Her singular radiance of energy and enthusiasm springs from a vast and generous heart, and the lady is also modestly wicked-smart, a factor which has played no small role in her ability to make us laugh. This book is a treasure, a testament to Betty’s insight and intuition about how the past can shape a person’s future—her future, as a writer, actress, animal lover and as a symbol of all that is right with America. The book includes a new introduction by Betty.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
Calling herself a dedicated ``closet writer,'' actress White, coauthor of Betty White's Pet Love, conveys an endearing zest for life, people and nature in short, ebullient commentaries on both serious and trivial topics that denote sensitivity and the ability to laugh at herself. An ardent animal lover, she actively solicits support for zoos and conservation from her show-business friends. This book of reflections is free of professional pettiness, and she asserts that the Golden Girls actresses are as friendly off camera as on, and so were the Mary Tyler Moore cast members with whom she worked. White's pet peeves encompass sloppy diction, bathroom humor and mirrored sunglasses, and she expresses strong dislike for the blatant sex and voyeurism on today's screens and for ``people who wear grief like a mantle.'' Her reminiscences of her parents and of her former husband, Password host Allen Luddon, are fond. First serial to Redbook. (October 2)

Still Relevant, Betty's Still Funnier than Anyone

Nothing is dated in here. In fact it shows how wise Betty White is by all she foresaw. Made me laugh out loud in a lot in places. I just love her.
