About the Author

Gill Winter has had a varied career. She spent 11 years working for one of New Zealand's premier art institutions, the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, before setting up Flying Piglets, a touring agency for folk and blues musicians. She also worked as marketing manager for two arts festivals, helped on the family pig farm, and volunteered for Trade Aid, New Zealand's biggest fair trade organisation.
In 2009 she completed the CELTA qualification in teaching English as a second language. In 2010 she answered an advertisement on 'Dave's ESL Cafe' website for volunteer teachers to work in India, and found herself in Dharamshala. She has since returned to Dharamshala several times, and has written two books about the experience: "Between Monks and Monkeys" and "The Yeti in the Library."
