At eighteen years old, Cassidy has suffered more loss than most...
At the end of her senior year, her boyfriend, Jace Peters, was killed in a car accident, and her grandmother died only weeks later of a heart attack. Emotionally lost, Cassidy desperately searches for an heirloom her boyfriend was wearing in the crash-her mother's gold ring. But during her search, Cassidy discovers more than her ring.
She finds a gate to the Demon Realm....
A battle is brewing, and Killian-head of the Demon hunters-preps his Clan for the approaching conflict. They've been working to secure the gate between his realm and the mortal world. But it's been nearly impossible since Rya-a voracious demon on a quest to expand her power-devoured the soul of his Clan's necromancer. Now Rya is possessed with the necromancer's powers and she may break through the gate at any moment.
Apparently Rya isn't the only one Killian has to worry about...
When Cassidy accidentally crosses into the Demon Realm, Killian can't understand how a human girl survived the transition. Now he has to find a way to return her to her own world, or risk her being caught in the crossfire, which is a complication he definitely doesn't need.
Once back in the Human Realm, Cassidy readies herself for battle. She signs up for Krav Maga classes, where she meets Tyler Romaitis-a handsome, tenacious, humble guy. He seems almost perfect, but nothing is ever that easy.
And as the balance between good and evil shifts, Cassidy finds herself-and her ring-at the heart of the conflict for the survival of mankind.

I was first introduced to D.A. Roach through her young adult romance novel Rarity. Although Between the Bleeding Willows comes from an entirely different genre, Roach weaves her story with the same finesse seen in her previous novel. The book starts out with the story of Cassidy and the hardships she has endured throughout her short life. Cassidy finds purpose and destiny through her discovery of the Demon Realm and Demon Hunters. Throughout the novel, I found myself relating to her character on many levels-the mark of a great author. I wanted to be her, yet I also wanted to protect her from the things she had to experience in her life. The plot is fast-paced and packed with tons of action and emotion. I would recommend it for anyone who reads paranormal/action novels, or anyone who simply loves to read books from a very talented author. I can't wait to see how the story progresses in the next installment!
This is the second D.A. Roach book I have read and again, she has successfully taken me out of my comfort zone and I enjoyed it. Not a huge reader of YA books, however with hers, it doesn't seem to make a difference. I was hooked from chapter one of Between the Bleeding Willows and stayed that way until the very end. "Bound to both heaven and hell-yet not at the same time." ~ Serena That pretty much sums up what Cassidy is now facing. After losing her grandmother and boyfriend Jace in a short period of time, Cassidy decides to go back to Jase's accident scene to retrieve her mother's ring as it's the only thing she has left of her family. Upon finding the ring, Cassidy finds herself in a world she never believed existed and is absolutely shocked at it's newest edition. Accidentally entering the demon realm, Cassidy surprises herself as well at the Clan leader Killian at surviving the transition. She shouldn't have made it through the gates unharmed, which makes him very suspicious. However, Killian has other things on his mind, such as who is releasing demons and how to keep his clan safe. The action only amps up from here. The review is vague as to not spoil any of the story line, but the book is not. D.A. Roach opened my eyes to paranormal once again and I am glad for it. Between the Bleeding Willows was well written, with excellent detail that leapt off of the pages. I will patiently be waiting for book two, it'll be interesting to see how it all unfolds. Team Killian right here!
D.A Roach is a wonderful writer and in this book she introduces you to a world of casters, demons and demon hunters. It is beautifully written and since it only took me about a day and a half to read it I would say that I pretty much loved it and can’t wait to read more! Book two cannot get here fast enough! (I am estimating the time because it was a constant battle of having to put it down to do Adulty things like care for my home and children LOL) This book is in told from two points of view, Cassidy’s and Killian’s, which normally I REALLY hate that because if it’s not written just right then it can throw the whole book off. But D.A does a really good job and kept me intrigued the entire time! I cried, laughed, got angry and just sucked into this world like I belonged there. It was awesome. The only thing I REALLY wish, was that there was more content. I feel that there were parts that could have been expanded a bit, or that maybe there could have been a bit more scenes added that would have just made this a even more stellar book. But that is it, so I really hope you all give this book a try because it’s super freaking awesome! By the way...totally a fan of Killian!!!
"Between the Bleeding Willows" is the story of nineteen year old Cassidy, who has experienced a great deal of loss, never having known her parents and having had to deal with the unexpected deaths of her grandmother and long-term boyfriend recently. She stumbles upon a different world of demon hunters one day, where she meets Killian. Despite Killian's best efforts to keep Cassidy out of his world, it keeps pulling her back in as she seems destined to be a part of it. This is a captivating novel with twists and turns that you don't see coming (I had guesses about the ring and her father-the big mysteries in the book- that turned out to be wrong). I had a hard time putting it down after getting past the first ~25% as it really picked up and didn't stop (in a great way!). I enjoyed the idea of the bond between Cassidy and Killian, but I wish there was a little more build up before the bond (maybe some more attraction/moments to make the background of the strong feelings a little more believable). However, I totally bought into it by halfway through the book and loved it by the end (I can't wait to see their relationship build in the future). The book is fast paced and keeps the reader engaged. It's a great choice for those who love the fantasy genre. I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment in this series! Please note that I received this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
Reviewed by Melinda Hills for Readers' Favorite The balance between good and evil is shifting and 18-year-old Cassidy Kavanaugh is drawn into the battle without having any idea why or how in Between the Bleeding Willows: The Demon Hunters Series, Volume 1 by D.A. Roach. Emotionally drained and confused after the tragic death of her long-time boyfriend, followed within weeks by that of her Gram, Cassidy is searching for answers. A good luck charm she had given Jace was not recovered from the car wreck, so Cassidy goes to the site of the crash to look for it. The search takes her to the abandoned cemetery, said to be haunted, where she does find the ring, but also so much more – she ‘falls’ through a gateway into the home of the Clan in the demon realm. This has never happened to a human before so the demon hunters, products of angelic and human blood, need to figure out why. This brings Cassidy in touch with her deceased boyfriend, Jace, who has been turned into a demon, and into the conflict between the demons and the hunters. Will she be able to help maintain good in the world or become a pawn in a dangerous conflict? D.A. Roach has created an exciting paranormal adventure in Between the Bleeding Willows, Volume 1 of The Demon Hunters Series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story and appreciated the author's imagination and the development of the characters in their separate realms. Strong characters, an interesting conflict between different human and nonhuman factions, and intense action keep you turning the pages, anxious to see just how it all comes together. Follow Cassidy on her quest to discover just what role she plays in the major battle to come. Nicely done!
( Source: I received this book directly from the Author D.A. Roach in exchange for my honest opinion and views ) Cassidy finds herself thrust into the demon world - after the tragic loss of her boyfriend, Jace. At the end of her senior year, Jace was killed in a car accident, and Cassidy's Grandmother died weeks later from a heart attack. Emotionally battered Cassidy searches for her lost jewellery Jace was wearing when he had the crash. But Cassidy finds more than just her jewellery she enters into the demon realm! An impossible thing for any human to survive! Cassidy finds herself in the presence of a cocky self-assured but totally loveable Killian; Head of the Demon Hunters. With a battle brewing between the Demon hunters and the Demons, Killian prepares his clan for the conflict to come, while trying to protect Cassidy his new interest. But still no matter what Cassidy still finds herself and her - ring in the centre of Good and Evil. I loved bleeding between the willows; It's one of those stories that captures your full attention from the very beginning. D. A. Roach has created a superb story, very well developed and written. You can find her way of writing is one of those that's fairly easy to follow, which in turn allows you to read more freely and submerge yourself in her story. I can not wait for the next book in the series! I'm genuinely excited for book two! I wholeheartedly recommend this book you won't be disappointed!
