    An Excellent Teaching Tool

I own a slew of books about how to write fiction and have been writing for a long time. I learned a lot from this book, especially with tips I hadn't previously given much thought to. This book remains one of my favorites that I return to again and again as I write. Ms. Morrell explains with excellent examples, and her reading suggestions are also great and up-to-date choices. It's not one of those same ol', same ol's, but a genuine helpful aid.

A Clear, Concise, Compelling, Comprehensive Text Written with Consummate Mastery -- A Must Keep for the Ages!

Jessica Morell explains with a wonderful clarity how to employ techniques commonly used in the writing of fiction so that the story itself lures curiousity, commands intrigue and snatches captivation. She discusses throughout the book how each element may be inobviously dispersed throughout the story to maintain and heighten reader intimacy within the story and empathy for the characters.

I love this book and I shall keep it in my library in perpetuity.

Ready to take your writing to the next level?

I own several shelves full of writing how-to books. This book, however, tops them all. We've all read novels that we love, but can't explain exactly why we love them. This book tells how to get that depth and meaning in your writing. Some of it's intuitive stuff some of us do anyway, but having it spelled out for you is helpful. I'm only half-way through the book, and I've already made changes to my work in progress to reflect what I've learned from this book. I'm looking forward to reading it again and again.

    LIVES UP TO ITS TITLE

Between the Lines, by Jessica Page Morrell, is an in-depth look at a wide range of novel-writing subjects. As the title implies, this is not meant to be a typical A to Z how-to book, and for the most part it lives up to its title. I took lots of notes about Epiphanies, Revelations, Flashbacks, Foreshadowing, Prologues, and Epilogues. My favorite chapter was Transitions, which by itself is worth the price of the book. Overall, I¿m glad I purchased Between the Lines and suspect I will be referring to it again and again in the future.
