Overview

When Hollywood It Boy, Reid Alexander, arrives on location to shoot his next movie, his goals are the same as always: film another blockbuster hit, and enjoy his celebrity status to the fullest while doing so. His costar is a virtual unknown with whom he had blazing hot chemistry during her auditions. The universe is lining up nicely to grant whatever he wants, as usual, until he’s confronted with unexpected obstacles on location – like a bitter ex-girlfriend and a rival for the first girl to spark his genuine interest in years.

Emma Pierce just got her big break after more than a decade of filming commercials for grape juice, department stores and tampons, and more recently, bit parts in made-for-TV movies. Nailing the lead role in a wide-release film sent her agent, father and stepmother into raptures, and should have done the same for her. The Problem? Emma is experiencing a building desire to be normal, and starring in a silly, modernized adaptation of one of her favorite novels – opposite the very hot Reid Alexander – isn’t going to advance that aspiration.

Indie actor Graham Douglas isn’t overly picky when it comes to film roles. If it pays, he’ll do it. Besides, his friend Brooke Cameron snatched up the role of the bitchy hot girl and could use his help as a buffer, because her ex is the star. Graham has no problem keeping a handle on the situation, until he finds himself attracted to Reid’s costar, Emma, the girl Reid is pursuing full-throttle with his standard arsenal of charm, good looks and arrogance.

Meet the Author

Between the Lines is my first young adult novel. The second, Where You Are, is due out in October 2011.

I'm addicted to coffee and Cherry Garcia frozen yogurt. I love shopping for earrings, because they always fit, even if I occasionally "forget" to work out. I'm a hopeful romantic who adores novels with happy endings, because there are enough sad endings in real life.

Reading was one of my first and earliest loves, and writing soon followed. I wrote sad romantic poetry in high school and penned my first half-novel when I was 19, which was destroyed accidentally when I stuffed it into the shredder at work. Ahem.

    Wow

Between the Lines was exactly the book I needed on vacation. I absolutely loved it and will definitely be rereading it!

It is a YA contemporary romance about life on the set of a teenage movie, being the leading lady, and getting close to the leading man. The book has two narrators Reid, our resident teen heart throb (I kept thinking of him as a Zac Effron type) and Emma, shooting her first blockbuster film as a lead character. They're remaking Pride and Prejudice with a modern twist and playing opposite each other. It's not all glitz and glamor and both lead very private lives, while they show they public one side of them, many people don't know much of the truth. I loved getting inside their heads and knowing exactly what each one was thinking.

The chemistry between not only Emma and Reid, but everyone, is phenomenal. Webber's writing made me feel like I was part of the cast, it was a lot of fun to read this book. She has so many fantastic characters to meet, and they are all so different. I am definitely crushing on both Quinton and Graham, Reid's a little too cocky for my taste but, hey. I loved the look inside being an actor, a life I would honestly never choose for myself, it's void of any privacy.

Tammara Webber is awesome, her writing is addicting in that can't-eat-must-finish-book kind of way. This book is a nice way to appreciate living a normal life. There is a love triangle, which I know some people complain about but I love them! I love not knowing who chooses who, or ends up with who until the end.

We follow Reid and Emma through the demands of filming and being a couple, something they seem to want different things out of. Surprises between the cast constantly come up, they're lives seem fun and I was very entertained. Read this book, it's only $.99 right now for the nook and kindle versions!

    Loved it!

Author recommendation: Mature teens+ (language/drinking/sexual situations)

    My Summary:

Emma is not your average high school senior. She doesn't attend classes at a high school but on the set of her latest job. Nothing exciting, commercials and TV movies. But all of that changes when she lands the role opposite the teen idol Reid Alexander. Their chemistry cannot be denied and it earns her the role but it also has Reid after her off camera as well. And what could possible be wrong with the gorgeous Reid pursuing her? Nothing right. But when she makes friends with Graham, the hotty playing the nerd, she starts to doubt a relationship with Reid is wise. And there is this desire to be normal that Emma can't get past. What about college? What about theater acting? When Graham seems unavailable and Reid is to hard to resist, Emma finds her choices between the lines may be being made for her.

    My Thoughts:

    5 stars - a must read

This book is a fast fun read. It grabs you quickly and requires that you keep turning the pages. I loved the way the POV went back and forth between Emma and Reid. Tammara does a fabulous job capturing Reid's thoughts. I loved reading his POV. He is such a teenage guy! Add to that his star status and he is downright dangerous. Yet there is something there with Reid. Unlike most teenage boys with dysfunctional families, Reid has a whole lot more available to him to help him escape. For sure he is hiding too and in complete denial. But he also loves his mother even if he can't say the words. He also had some history that might explain his instability to say the L word even to his mom. I think there may be some hope for the boy even if he doesn't want to change anything about himself.

Emma is an interesting soul. Her mother died when she was young and her father checked out on her. He married again and is totally devoted to his new wife and making Emma a star. It doesn't seem to matter what she wants. Despite all of this, Emma is a great girl. I love her relationship with her best friend Emily. They make the Em and Em team. Emma certainly deserves more than she gets from her family and her life.

Graham is my favorite in this book. He is mysterious and adorable. He makes friends with Emma. As they spend time together, it seems like there is something there. But there are so many unanswered questions about what's up with Graham. I started guessing what it could be. I came close but was surprised with his secrets. It made me love him more. I am so team Graham!

So I literally went from reading this book to book 2, Where You Are without even moving from my snuggle chair. Loving that one too but not excited that I'm going to have to wait for book 3.

    This Is An Amazing Read!

Have you ever read a novel that causes your heart to pound and puts butterflies in your stomach, because it's so good? Well, this is one of those novels, and I highly recommend it! I loved it! This is just an absolutely fantastic read, and what a beautiful cover!!! It's such a refreshing novel too-I've never come across a book like this one, focusing on teenage celebrities! I really enjoyed myself while reading this novel, and as our nation is always so wrapped up in celebrity activities, this is sure to be a pleasing fictitious tale for all. Webber does a magnificent job creating a novel around such a fascinating topic, and I was glued to the story from the very first page.

The writing style is superb, and I love the way Webber chose to present the story through the back and forth perspectives of the two main characters, Emma and Reid. By utilizing this writing technique, Webber allows the reader to step into both Emma and Reid's shoes through their first person narrative, and it's a breathtaking way to become one with the characters. I also loved the inside view the reader obtains in regards to what happens on and off the set, as the actors and actresses come together to create movies for the public. It was really interesting to read-and it's a topic I've wondered about for years!

It's a true love/coming-of-age story, and the characterization is just beautiful. While I love to hate a few choice characters within the novel, Webber has portrayed them all realistically, and I found myself connecting with them all as I read. The love story portion of the novel is also extremely beautiful, even though I occasionally wanted to shake the characters in regards to their choices, and I even found myself yelling at them, aloud, as I read. I think that's an aspect that makes the characters so believable, creating a bond between them and the reader. Webber is an amazing writer, and she's an up and coming author to watch! I am very impressed, and excited for the sequel to this novel-I'm on pins and needles! Pick it up STAT!! Five stars!

A Blockbuster Hit - Highly Recommended

This book had drama and romance, laughter and tears, it was heart-pounding and ohhh so GREAT!!! Reading this book was better than my favorite show on TV. The characters came alive and I was literally watching a movie in my head. I definately have a soft spot for each of the characters. This book had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know how it all was going to end. It did not disappoint. I cannot wait until I read the sequel, to continue the next phase of Emma, Reid and Graham's life.
You will not want to pass this one up... It is a fascinating and great read for young adults...

    LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.

Emma is an actress. I would say aspiring, but well, she's more forced than aspired. That doesn't mean she isn't good at her job though. So, when when she gets cast in a big Hollywood film opposite Reid Alexander, she has mixed feelings. Because A) She feels that the movie, School Pride, is offensive to all Jane Austen fans as a "modern P&P" B) She didn't really want the role. but C) Reid Alexander is REALLY HOT. And her best friend, Emily, has this huge crush on him, so she knows she can't turn down the role that everyone in their right mind would want.
    So she takes it.

And when on set, sparks fly. Between her and Reid. But, things are never that simple when she gets to know the other cast mates, such as Graham. WHO. I. LOVE!

But back to Reid, as such half the book is in his POV, so he can not be forgotten. He's kind of your typical bad boy actor, except that his life isn't perfect. He has problems at home, no rules to follow, and for the first time in a long time, he's found someone he really cares about, and he has no idea what to do about it. Because he doesn't really know how to do more than one night stands.
The book is laced with snippets from the film as they force Emma, Reid, and the other castmates, to confront things they didn't really want to confront. Which I love.
Plus, I think it's kind of awesome to get a "behind-the-scenes" look of a film. How the words "action" and "cut" can have such significant impact on their emotions and expectations.
I really loved all of the characters. Even the ones I wanted to hate- I loved.

Tammara has such a way with characterizations that it's impossible not to love them all. Truly. Even the ones I sometimes wanted to punch in the face. (Ahem.)
Did I already tell all of you to go buy it?! It's only ONE DOLLAR!!!! Seriously. Best dollar you will EVER SPEND!

    Al

    Quick, fun read! :)

Compelling and seductive. Between The Lines is the story of a group of actors who, while on the set of a movie, find themselves battling their own inner feelings.

Reid Alexander is hot and he knows it. Being a Hollywood star, he gets whatever he wants and he just landed the lead in his next movie. With surprising chemistry, his co-star ends up being Emma Pierce, a not very well known actress. But, also on filming with them is Reid's ex-girlfriend Brooke and well to say they don't get along would be an understatement. And then, there's another contender... Graham Douglas. Graham is Brooke's friend and is reserved and smart. While these four actors film they also find themselves tangled with secrets, family, and emotions.

Between The Lines is told from Reid and Emma's view points and I have to say I enjoyed reading from both. Reid is the all around eye candy. He's got the looks, the personality, the girls, and the connections. But, what he doesn't have is Emma. With their chemistry heating up on screen, Reid finds himself falling for Emma... or is it something else? Reid doesn't normally fall for girls but, all he knows is that he wants her and Graham stands in his way. Reid isn't only dealing with his feelings for Emma though, but with his family. His family has issues and I honestly felt sorry for Reid during parts of the book.

Emma on the other hand, while she is infatuated with Reid, she also feels the chemistry with Graham and she is completely uncertain of what way to fall. I liked Emma a lot. It was intriguing to follow Emma, because I'm sure we all know what is feels like to like two guys at once. And if one is showing interest, but the other is backing off, well what do you do? And what happens when you thought there was a connection but nothing seems to be coming out of it? Plus, Emma deals with her family and tries to continue to lead a normal life. Emma just seemed so real to me. Real as in, she acted and felt how any normal person would act being her situation.

My favorite character though was probably Graham. He's so caring and cute. I also love the fact that he's 20 years old and he's been through a little more and he knows what he wants. Graham and Emma's interactions through out the story completely made me smile. They have the perfect banter and routines.

I really enjoyed the realness of this story. There was also a twist I was not expecting at all, and it goes to show you that you never really know all of someone's secrets. It also shows you that sometimes what you need is right in front of you if you just open your eyes. While I was pleased by the ending, I still wanted more. And low and behold there is a sequel! Though I must admit even though I'm excited for it, with the synopsis for Where You Are, I am a little nervous. Between The Lines was a fantastic story and I cannot wait for the sequel.

    The Perfect Summer Book!

I don't know much about Hollywood life, but I'd say Between the Lines captures the life of an upcoming, if not slightly naïve, young actress, and the partying lifestyle that she's getting herself into. The lighthearted premise of Emma getting her first major acting job with the drop-dead gorgeous Reid Alexander is fun and lighthearted, but author Tammara Webber also delves into both characters and gives them depth.

Emma is a true sweetheart. She's kind to everyone and a people-pleaser. But that makes her very naïve about the world she's walking into and also unhappy about some of the personal matters in her life. Her relationship with her father is strained, at best, but her friendship with Emily, her best friend, and costar Graham are realistic and tender. I loved the few scenes between Emma and Emily and loved the Emma and Graham scenes even more.

Only half the book is from Emma's POV though. The other half is from playboy Reid Alexander's. If you ever want to get into the mind of an egocentric, selfish hottie, then Between the Lines is the way to do it. Reid's haughty, conceited attitude is infuriating, but all the issues with his mom and dad give him this tortured boy aura. It seems like he's better underneath it all, but someone has to peel back his many arrogant layers. Emma may just be the girl to do that.

The surrounding cast members of School Pride, a modern-day Pride and Prejudice retelling, are all fun in their own ways. Webber insures that each character mentioned isn't done so in passing. They each hold their weight in both the movie and Emma and Reid's life. Graham stands out the most, but Brooke is beyond intriguing and I couldn't help but love Tadd and his understanding of Reid.

Between the Lines is a fast and fun read, but it also ventures into more serious topics for both Emma and Reid. Tammara Webber's debut is the perfect summer book, with the right amount of humor, sexiness, and tender-hearted moments. Her take on young Hollywood feels authentic, but never graphic. I loved reading from Emma's POV and often wanted to slap Reid or hug him. I didn't see the ending coming, but hear there's a sequel on the way, so I will certainly be reading on.

    From Missy's Reads & Reviews

Between The Lines is what I would consider a pretty perfect Contemporary read for me. There's drama and there's romance with a slight love triangle, but it lacks the insta-love - which means Webber got it right for me.

Emma is everything I wanted in a female lead. She's strong and can take up for herself, yet still has some of those typical teenage weaknesses and flaws that makes you relate to her completely as the story goes. Even if her decisions were a little different from what I think my own would be if I was put in her spot, I understood the decisions she made because they fit who she was and how she thinks. Reid definitely played his part well, and Graham and Brooke both surprised me with how much I enjoyed their characters in the story. I thought Brooke would have been the one girl in the story I wanted to strangle -- but it turned out to be someone completely different and unexpected, which would be Emma's stepmother. Wow, what a character she turned out to be!

This story is one that is completely relatable in today's world. There are a lot of teen stars and this story takes on a realistic portrayal of what that world may be like. Over everything, I think the part about the story that I enjoyed most was that everything wasn't just a bed of roses. There was conflict and there were unexpected moments that I didn't see coming. I also enjoyed the fact that the story's ending didn't take the stereotypical route.. but that's about all I can say without messing up the ending. Everything tied up nicely and nothing was left completely unanswered. I think my only problem now is that I know that a second book will be coming out soon and I cannot wait!

For the squeamish, note that there are some sexual situations along with scenes of teen drinking and some language. This would be a great read for the more mature YA audience.

    OMG Such A Fantastic Book!

I don't think I have ever read anything quite like this book before. I mean it was really interesting to get the different perspective from the 2 main charcters, but what really shocked me was how long it was. I mean like seriously 610 pages long and I can't believe I finished it in only 6 hours. It was so good I honestly couldn't put it down. Well if you like books about romance especially involving movies, fights, interesting gossip, and completely different sides of 2 lives then this is definitley the book for you.

    FIVE STARS!

This is one of my favorite books! Even after reading all three books I continued to read them again and again. Emma Pierce is (from my view a forced movie star) and never has a choice in where she went in life. Landing small roles in small low budget movies until she becomes the main character in a movie. She falls for Reid Alexander (the dreamy A-lister who is also her co-star) after listening in on Brooke (Reid's girlfriend's) conversation with him. In the end she ends up interested in Graham.

This is a wonderful set of books about star crossed lovers and these books will not leave you disappointed!

Loved...want to read the next one!

I love the main characters. I like the vying for attention between two males for the main girl, which is prevalent in so many teen books. It was easy for me to feel empathetic to the main character even though I am nothing like her. Can't wait to read the next in the series!
