    intriguing tale of dark fantasy

The Noble Dead series is an intriguing tale of dark fantasy. Each novel reveals some new facet to the characters and more details about world they inhabit. Magiere is a dhampir, half-human and half-vampire, who has earned her reputation as a vampire hunter. Her husband, Lessil is a half-elven assassin, trained by his elven mother while growing up to work for the human lord they were enslaved to. His dog, Chap, is a majay-hi, a Fay spirit in the body of an elven wolf. Wynn is a human member of the Guild of Sagecraft. The four of them have stumbled upon information concerning a war so long ago that almost nothing is known about it. During the war, the Ancient Enemy created the Noble Dead, vampires and other, more powerful, creatures, as weapons against his foes. And now, to stop another war, 5 orbs must be recovered and hidden away again where the Ancient Enemy can’t find them.

Between Their Worlds is the 10th novel in this series. Three of the orbs have been found. Wynn has been made a virtual prisoner by her own Guild. Margiere, Lessil, and Chap have traveled to the Guild to meet her, expecting her to have more information from the texts she initially brought with her. But the Guild has denied her access to them, even taking her own personal notes. Helped by her dog, Shade, daughter of Chap, and Chane, the undead vampire who loves her, Wynn must escape from the Guild with as much information as she can. At the same time, Margiere and Lessil are also trying to break Wynn out.

I’ve really enjoyed each of books in this series. They’ve all been well written and entertaining. In this book, I really enjoyed the interaction between the characters and the mystery behind the motivations of some of the secondary characters. The mystery of what’s going to happen next kept me turning page after page. I’m looking forward to the next book.

Gotta say was very disappointed in this book.  The whole book basically revolves around getting Wynn out of the guild where she is imprisoned.  Then at the end of the book she goes back to the guild making the whole book entirely pointless.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olso

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:

Between Their Worlds is Book #1 of Series #3 of the NOBLE DEAD SAGA and reunites the characters from the first two series after they had broken off to take care of their respective pieces of the puzzle.

It was so nice to have my favorites back in one place - for better or worse - and now that the baseline has been reestablished for what needs to be done and they've split up yet again, the mystery and action to come promises to be incredible!

Between Their Worlds allows the reader into the minds of Wynn, Chane, Magiere, Leesil, Chap and Shade as they meet up again after their long separation and continue on with some unlikely allies and the reappearance of some old friends.

Not all Noble Dead fans will love this book, and some may feel like it was an unnecessary filler novel. I personally feel that it was necessary for the continuation of the saga, and was a beautifully emotional read. To me, it was like coming home again...

LITERAL ADDICTION gives Between Their Worlds 4 Skulls.

Devoured this one as quickly as the first Noble Dead series. Leesil, Magiere and other familiar characters and the "voice" of the series finally back! What the last 3 books of this Noble Dead Second series should have been. Is it me or were the villains (wraith, "the children") kinda missing? When characters meet up, a new form of undead was mentioned and Wynn reminds herself to tell them about the wraith -- then nothing (guess maybe foreshadowing next book?).

Good and bad guys after Wynn, a lot of plot turns on getting her free, a lot on politics (city, elven, guild, etc.) and who is/isn't on their side--all disappointingly unresolved so will likely still be wading thru in the next book(s)...not going to say too much and have spoilers. Overall I did enjoy the read but was dissatisfied at how much was same-old-stuff and unresolved. Mixed feelings about recycled same-old-stuff because I did want what made the Noble Dead a favorite series back; could have used a lot more "new" stuff but it is book 10 of a series and it does seem to be back on track.

Now like everyone else am waiting to see if next book keeps me interested in this series. It would be disappointing to have them turn Leanalham character into another innocent-to-be-protected Wynn clone being dragged along on the journey but there was some foreshadowing of that (and maybe publisher, marketing or authors are listening to the readers having gotten way, way too much Wynn in the last 3 books but I really hope that's not how the next book handles the issue).

The first three in second Noble Dead series lacked the main characters and action/plot and just overall the very voice of the original series. Wynn character was too introspective, too clueless most of the time, and so little happened that if you wanna read the first series from Dhampir thru Child of a Dead God then just a synopsis of the next three -- you should be just fine or skim thru and pay attention to stuff with orbs and other races. If publisher is smart, the first three of the second Noble Dead series should be appearing as a bundle deal

    Wonderful !

I enjoyed this story as much as I enjoyed the others in the series. I am glad to finally see some old faces return to the tale. Now that everyone's character is developed and the stage is set for more adventure, I can't wait to see what is next.

too verbose but insightful as always

authors have to step it up and cover more ground in the books... curiosity is killing me... too little is covered in each book.

shorten the descriptions and cover more of the story please!!!

    Disappointing

First let me say that I do not like giving poor reviews. I will not tell any specifics so as not to ruin it because there are SOME important pieces to the puzzle that are talked about however I have read all the Noble Dead books and this one was very disappointing to say the least. Of the 22 chapters in the book only 3 of them had any kind of actual story progression the rest just felt like fluff, boring fluff at that. I have enjoyed the other books and I really like the overall story but honestly they could have cut out 3/4 of this book and made it a novella and it would have been more satisfying.

    Definitely a recommended good read!

Continuing the long saga of the Noble Dead series Barb & J.C. Hendee continue the world traveling romp of vampires needing staking, and evil spirits needing exorcised. As with some of the previous books in the series the pacing will slack off in a couple of spot, but it's worth reading through them to get to the final wind up of end of the book. As always, it leaves you wanting more! I've read all of their Noble Dead series and cannot say enough good things about these dark depressing lands where characters who have flaws do their best and sometimes come out on top, if not an even draw. Good read and a must for dark sword & sorcery with a dark evil vampire twist.
