Basically a stream of consciousness book that did not do anything for me. Lots of emotion and people getting injected with stimulants and lasers going off to no particular effect. If the story involved some character development, discernible plot or, at some point, stimulation to the Reader, it would have had some redemption. It is not easy to write a good story and draw people in and be entertaining and enjoyable. This one proves it..Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I've always had a soft spot for combat stories that jump right into the action, and get you involved at the platoon or squad level. Jeschonek's short story doesn't disappoint, and drives straight for the solar plexus with a three-person team that's fighting for their lives on an alien planet, and have been so for quite some time. And then one of the team sees a dreaded harbinger of doom at the edge of the combat zone. Pumped to the gills on stims, the rest of the squad isn't sure that they've seen it. But they're starting to see lots of *other* things pop up on their screens...not all of which are necessarily real. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
