Children's Literature - Summer Whiting
Young readers will be delighted with oddities and freakish facts that could only come from one place—Ripley's! Where else could one read about the man who walked up 330 steps of a sixteen-story building on his toes? Or the couple who exchanged vows while at the bottom of an underwater aquarium? There was once a girl who married a dog just to save her from a potential illness later in life! Children will enjoy the concise layout complete with fantastic photographs. The index will allow the reader to find just what he is looking for. Reluctant readers will be drawn into Ripley's bizarre world and will definitely be left wondering if he should believe what he is reading (or not). Gruesome photographs are included (see the man that was skewered by a pole) and should first be previewed by an adult, but overall the pictures are child friendly and will entice young people.
