BEYOND CONTROL is such an emotional read. A literary roller coaster. A must Read. Well done Bolton!! It was awesome, amazing, and at times agonizing. But should I have expected anything less from this stellar author? I think not. Don't miss out on this one!

This book absorbs you in it, forces you to forget everything else and just live alongside Gabby, Brandy, Jason. There are quite a few unseen plot twists that will alternate between making you want to cry, rip out your heart or simply do a little dance around your place.

    Good but.....

I loved the story, aside from events which I thought were totally unrealistic. I loved the writing. What I didn't like was the ending. I might have been interested in reading the next book in the series, but I was annoyed by the cliff-hanger ending. When I read a book, I put my trust in the author to tie up loose ends and provide resolution. I feel like this author took advantage of my trust by creating a potentially cataclysmic event and leaving me hanging as to the outcome. If I can't trust the author, I can't read anything else that she has written because she may leave me hanging again. I don't like it.

Boy, what can I say that won't give away any of this wonderful book, The traumas from childhood have greatly colored Gabby's life. Her mother's death, her brother's disappearance, and her father's insane devotion to work have led to major insecurities in her life and her love life. Working in one of the family's businesses(organic cheese) offers and opportunity for Gabby to try to capture her father's love and attention which was missing throughout her teenage and college years.
Jason, the yummy bike builder, enters her life via a surprise from her father. Jason's suffered his own losses and is trying to rebuild his life with an emphasis on doing what you love because he's discovered that sometimes life can be surprisingly short.
This is a story about letting go and following your heart in life and love and why that's a really good idea.

I got this one for review a while back and I was anxious to read it. I've heard good things about it and I enjoy Bolton's YA Paranormal series, so I was hoping I'd like this one too. And I did. Quite a bit.

Gabby. I liked her. She's a strong character. She's dealt with a lot in life and I had sympathy for her. Especially, the more I got to know her and her story. She had to deal with the loss of her mother and her brother leaving all at the same time. I can imagine how confusing and hurtful that would be for a twelve year old girl. And how alone she must have felt. Now, she's an adult, but still copes with that loss. Of course there is more to Gabby's story, but I can't really say what. Which brings me to Jason.

I really, really, liked Jason. He's hot, a bit rugged and he's good with his hands. He builds motorcycles and this is how he and Gabby meet.  There is instant attraction between the two and a spark that neither one can deny. But, they don't jump into a relationship. They take time to get to know each other. Once they got together, it was pretty darn great. They simply enjoy each other. They have similar interests and again, their chemistry is great.

Then we get to the good stuff. Once I learned more about Jason's past, I started to put the puzzle pieces together. While a bit heartbreaking to read, I enjoyed seeing how the story was going to play out. It was emotional and kept me burning through the pages to see how it was going to end. And, I was right in my assumption, but their story isn't over. I think they still have some things to work through.

Overall, I really liked it. It was a slow burn type of book for me, so I wasn't sure where I was going to end up in my rating. But the ending...kept me on my toes and anxious for more! I'll definitely be reading the next book, because Bolton throws in another twist right at the end, which was totally unexpected! I'd definitely recommend this one. Give it a try!

Being a fan of Karice Bolton, I was more than willing to read and review this book. I had only read her paranormal, but she does romance really great, so I was really excited to dive into this new adult book. It was a very touching and emotional story. A bit predictable, but still incredibly good. Let me warn you in advance though, if you are not a fan of cliffhangers, I would hold off on reading this until at least the next book is out. This is not just a cliffhanger, it's an "OMG YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!!!" cliffhanger. Since I am a sucker for cliffhangers, it didn't bother me too much, but it's an intense place to leave off. The main story is mostly resolved, but this cliffhanger leads into a different part of the story. One thing is for sure. Karice Bolton knows how to make you need more.

Gabby is one of those characters that takes a while to grow on you. She is in a bad mental place because of her mothers death, her brother leaving, and her father always being away. She has everything she wants, a great job, plenty of money, and a fantastic best friend, but it's hard to move past the things that have happened to her. She loses herself in her work, and wants control of everything in her life since so much in her past has been out of her control. I get that need that she has, but she did get a little irritating at times with not just going with things once in a while. She has been hurt, and still lives with the pain of loss in a number of ways, but I didn't like that she was so unwilling to let anyone in or do anything that she isn't completely in control of. She does learn to let go after a while and learns that things are beyond her control sometimes, and not all of it is bad. It just took her a while to get to that point. She is a forgiving, smart, and compassionate person though.

Jason was fantastic. I am usually a sucker for the guys in these types of stories, but he really deserves the praise. He is a bit on the arrogant side at first, but it's all in good nature. He doesn't come across as a tool. He builds custom motorcycles for a living, and doesn't really seem to care one way or another whether Gabby is into him or not. He is obviously interested, but he doesn't play her hard to get game. When they finally do become more, it's hard for him to tell his secrets about his past, but he is willing to open up. His past is devastating and a harsh reality too, but unlike Gabby, he doesn't let it control him. He has tried to move past things to the best of his ability. It doesn't mean he hurts any less, but he knows he can't fix things. He is sensible and smart, and has found a way to channel his hurt without trying shutting himself off from life.

Their chemistry was amazing and apparent right from the start. On that note, I do believe this was very insta-lovey. I am not a fan of how fast they become entangled in each others lives and fell for each other, but it did make for a great story packed full of emotion and some super steam and sexiness. There was a lot of back and forth that also started to wear on me, mostly from Gabby's end. There is a lot of drama involved, but it's the kind I like. It made their relationship very in depth in such a short time. They face a lot of challenges together, but I felt that it made their bond that much better.

The story was great and was able to keep me wanting more even though I could always tell what was coming. Others may not pick up on all of the things I did since I do tend to way over think things and can be too perceptive for my own good. I also though there was a lot of super tragic things that happened and it was almost overwhelming. I really loved all of the side characters in the story too and can't wait to learn more about them in future books. That brings me back to the MAJOR cliffhanger that the book ends on. I seriously need the next book almost as much as I need air. It totally leaves us hanging at a super intense moment. Gabby and Jason's story isn't what we are left wondering about though. That is pretty resolved at the end, but other things that are happening in the story are what we are left needing to know. This book was fabulous even with my knowing what was happening and my slight irritations at some of the things that happen. I will definitely be continuing this series!!

    Truly Amazing

I have been reading since I was 3 and am now 60. This book is truly amazing. From dealing with cancer and the scars that go with it to following my dreams, I identified with so much. The characters were so thoroughly described you could picture them in your mind. Life got in the way for each of them so they have to work to make life and relationships work.

    Great job.

So Courtney emailed me as soon as she finished Beyond Control, and her enthusiasm had me curious. I'd a few of Karice Bolton's Paranormal YA books and enjoy her writing. Beyond Control is another good story from Bolton.

Like Courtney, I really liked the characters quite a lot. I admired Gabby's feisty personality. She was funny and bold, but also timid when it comes to taking chances. I enjoyed Jason even more. He was mysterious, nice, and sexy. Oh, and the fact he builds customs motorcycles was kind of hot.

The relationship between Gabby and Jason was built on attraction initially, but more so, friendship, family, and a bond neither of them realize. I have to say, I figured out what was going on pretty quickly, but was very curious to see if I was right. I was, and this was a doozy, in a good way. It reminded me of the plot of a movie from several years ago that I loved. It pains me that I can't even mention the title of the movie, because it would completely give it away.

As Courtney mentioned, Beyond Control ends on a cliffhanger. But this isn't a cliffhanger, this is a CLIFFHANGER. My jaw literally dropped open when I turned the last page and saw "to be continued". And no, this is not a conventional cliffhanger, because the story between Gabby and Jason isn't left unresolved, the series just moves in a different direction. I have to wonder how many e-readers Bolton's ending has sent careening across the room?

If you're looking for a story that seems fairly typical on the surface, but has several surprises in store, Beyond Control is worth a shot.

    **ARC**

We meet Gabby in the opener of this book as a 12 yr. old girl whose mother is sick and dying.
It tells us how her father has disappeared into his work and her older brother Aaron is left to take care of her and make sure she is given the love and support every 12 yr. old child needs from their parents.
After her mom passes, Aaron disappears from her life to not be heard from for the last 10 yrs.

Gabby is now a 22 yr. old college graduate and working for her father’s company. She has been through some things in her teen into early adult years.
She has many scars that grace her. She has sworn off men completely and is just trying to make it through life.

Brandy is Gabby’s best friend and roommate. Brandy is always trying to make Gabby live her life for the day.
She is her personal cheerleader in all things love & happiness. Brandy only wants for Gabby to do what her heart tells her to do and follow her dreams.

Aaron left his sister the day his mom passed away and has not returned home since. He doesn't know how to tell Gabby why he left and is hoping that one day she will sit down and listen to all the reasons why he had to go.
He just wants his sister back in his life who means more to him than anything in life.

Jason has set his eye on Gabby since the moment he saw her in the back of the limo on the bridge. There is something about her that he just seems to not be able to stop thinking about her.
He is enjoying the sarcasm and banter that Gabby throws at him. Jason will not give in until he gets what he wants and it seems that is Gabby.
She is a mystery to him.

I absolutely fell in love with Gabby’s story in this book. She has been through so much in life and is tired of people always sheltering her, thinking that she is weak.
When Jason walks into her life, she is finally seeing what it is like to live her life for herself and not what others expect from her.
She is having a hard time letting Jason in after she realizes that he has known her brother Aaron from the time he left her when her mother passed away.

Gabby has finally awoken the sleeping heart that Jason once had. He doesn't understand how one person, one smile and one laugh can make him feel whole & want to love again.
He has a pretty dark past and is trying to keep it hidden from Gabby not knowing how to tell her his past. Little does he know Gabby has a secret that she doesn't want or know how to tell Jason.
She is afraid he will reject her and not see her as a Beautiful woman.

When everyone’s worlds collide and all secrets and past lives are finally revealed can their bonds of strength still stand strong or will they all lose each other in the end?

I fell in love with Gabby and Brandy right from the start. They reminded me a lot of my relationship with my best friend.
We are close and I don’t see her as anything less than a sister in life. Gabby has been through the Hells of life and Brandy has always been there with her to help her along the way and picked her up off the ground when she needed it the most.
Aaron and Jason have much of the same story with being close and needing one another. Aaron was there to pick up the pieces of Jason’s life when he needed him to.
Jason & Gabby have no idea just how interconnected their lives are, and it shows that they want to love one another but are afraid at the same time.
Every emotion that these two were feeling in the book, I was right there with them feeling the same emotion. It was such a roller-coaster reading this book and I loved every moment of it!
I want book 2 to come out like TOMORROW so that I can continue on the journey with this crazy foursome and not feel like I am missing my friends.
