    Hope is Renewed

After two failed marriages and a string of partnerships that in one way or another seem to follow the same pattern (no matter how different the men!), Beyond Romance gives me both practical tools and renewed hope for a relationship that works. From the get-go, the author puts us to work, challenging us to look at ourselves in dramatically different ways, offering sound -- and often surprising -- reasons for the stuck places we've come to, and giving us assignments that reveal the truth and beauty of who we really are. Breaking the mold of so many other couples books, Dr. Simmons does not ask us to keep the flame of romance alive. Rather he asks us to make a decision, to dive into the work, and to develop the power of INTENTIONAL love. Working with the scripts from our families of origin, he asks us learn new ways of communicating from a more conscious state of mind, and in so doing, the illusion of romance gives way to the richness and power of real intimacy. I loved this book. It made me think, it made me work. As my self-awareness has grown, it has made me a kinder, more joyful individual and a better, more conscious, more loving partner. This little book will start a revolution -- a revolution of love. -- with gratitude, Susan

    Toolbox for Repairing Relationships

The most important aid in solving relatiohship struggles has been discovering the broad ideas which allow you to see your own issues as parts of a more easily understood whole. This little gem contains bite sized nuggets of wisdom that give you that 'ah ha!' feeling, allowing an easy grasp of the insight or explanation for the problem it connects to. The writing is crisp, with apt words of wisdom from the ages to illuminate, great concrete examples and down-to-earth tools that work. It is a user-friendly but profoundly helpful, informative, and very readable support-system for couples.
