An brave pilot who didn't realize be was being brave.

This was a very compelling story from Bernard Fisher describing his meeting with President Lyndon Johnson to his account of the events that day in the Ashau Valley. It was a thrilling story and there is no question as to his deserving the nation's highest military honor.

An Amazing Air Rescue Earns the Medal of Honor

Colonel Bernard Fisher, USAF, Retired was the first member of the Air Force to earn the Medal of Honor in Vietnam for an heroic air rescue of a downed pilot in the Ashau Valley. This book tells the story of his entire career, including flying two dead-stick landings of an F-104 Starfighter off Florida. An amazing pilot, a remarkable human being.
