Overview

What was happening to her? Heiress Fallon Hanover had always been in charge--of a huge business empire, of her wayward family members. Until dark, disturbingly different Kane Kincaid literally exploded into her life with such sexual force, she had no means to fight him...even if she'd wanted to.

The strangely foreign man led her down a sensual path that both thrilled and frightened her. One by one Kane wore down her defenses, until he'd gained total control of her mind, her body, her heart. But when she'd satisfied all his needs, he demanded one more thing of her: to say goodbye.

Because he had to go back to the future.

Meet the Author

Susan Kearney used to light herself on fire four times a day. Now she does something really hot -- she writes romantic suspense for Harlequin Intrigue.

While she hasn't performed her signature "fire" dive from a 10-meter platform in years, she started diving at age 10. By age 12, she'd won the New Jersey State Championship, and by college, she was a three-time All-American Diver.

While attending the University of Michigan, she earned a business degree that led to her diverse careers as, variously, a partner in a barter business, a real estate appraiser, a mover and renovator of houses, and a once-owner of three hair salons. Finally, in 1995, she sold her first book and became a full-time writer. She's currently plotting her way through her 14th novel.

Of all her careers, her favorite is wife and mother. She married her teenage sweetheart and lives with her husband, two children, and Boston terrier in sunny Florida. She now beats the heat not by diving into cold water, but with her new hobby --figure skating. Susan also enjoys writing science fiction, screenwriting, boating, and traveling to foreign countries.

In Florida Heiress Fallon Hanover has successfully lived a triple life. Besides running her family¿s business and taking care of her errant relatives who are always in trouble, Fallon works undercover for the CIA. Her 24/7 activities make it impossible to have any romance, which is okay by the hard charger though late at night she sometimes dreams of a hunk holding her once in a while. --- Abruptly seemingly out of thin air the mysterious Kane Kincaid enters her office, claiming he is from the future and needs her to save the world and to save his heart. As they fall in love, they try to divert the planet from the path to Armageddon. He knows he must soon leave as he is running out of time and must go back to the future. --- BEYOND THE EDGE is an amusing tongue in cheek (and elsewhere) science fiction romance starring two individuals who agree on saving the world in between bedroom activities. Fallon is a dedicated person always trying to do the right thing, but in Kane she has found her personal endearing diversion. Likewise the enigmatic Kane has come on a save the planet mission, but finds in his past his soulmate. There is plenty of humor and pathos in this tale and that makes Susan Kearny¿s satire fun to read. --- Harriet Klausner
