Bhagavad-Gita as It Isby A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prahupada, A. C. Prabhupada (Preface by)
The Bhagavad-gita is the main source-book on yoga and a concise summary of India's Vedic wisdom. Yet remarkably, the setting for this best-known classic of spiritual literature is an ancient Indian battlefield. At the last moment before entering battle, the great warrior Arjuna begins to wonder about the real meaning of his life. Why should he fight against his friends and relatives? Why does he exist? Where is he going after death? In the Bhagavad-gita, Lord Krsna, Arjuna's friend and spiritual master, brings His disciple from perplexity to spiritual enlightenment. In the course of doing so, Krsna concisely but definitively explains transcendental knowledge; karma-yoga, jñana-yoga, dhyana-yoga, and bhakti-yoga; knowledge of the Absolute; devotional service; the three modes of material nature; the divine and demoniac natures; and much more. Bhagavad-gita As It Is is the largest-selling, most widely used edition of the Gita in the world.

Whatever may be one¿s spiritual beliefs he or she must read this book. A lucid translation of this ancient text by the author enables one to understand the definition of the supreme Personality of Godhead along with His multifarious potencies. In the purport of the verses the author expands and delves into the laws of the material universe, how and why is it created, maintained and annihilated along with the condition of a living entity in this universe. Why is the living entity here and what is its true relationship with the Original Being is also clearly explained. Above all, how and why one must work to end the material entanglement is clearly explained. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada boldly explains the absolute truth without any pretence and very easily tackles the complex spiritual and metaphysical concepts. One is forced to agree that such clear translation of the text that is thousands of years old is certainly not concocted, but is the result of knowledge passed between successive disciples empowered by the supreme Personality of Godhead.
This definitive, modern translation (of the eternal truths and wisdom)of the Bhagavad Gita is given sublime potency because the author was a self-realized soul. He therefore could lucidly explain esoteric concepts in a direct, down-to-earth, and digestable manner, for the benefit of any serious seeker after the absolute truth. His powerful spiritual impact, (He published over 60 volumes in the last 12 years of His life!) when surveyed in retrospect many years from now, could well hold a place in human history no-less profound than that of Jesus Christ, Mohammed, or the Buddha.
This book has alot of very important info about life soul and spirit. It has alot of pages and you will go back and reread alot of areas so I am not done yet.
