Overview

The new edition includes more than 4,800 resources available at more than 10,000 Internet sites that provide information on a range of biblical study topics including Bible translations in English and other languages, audio translations of the Bible in English and other languages, commentaries, dictionaries, and other resource materials including ones in Greek, Hebrew and other ancient languages.
The author also has adopted a new method of referencing and cataloging the most widely used web pages to facilitate a major expansion of resources without increasing the physical length of the book itself. In cases when ten or more resources are listed on a single web page, the author has assigned the web page a three-digit code. The code is used to identify this web page as a major resource within the main text, while any needed instructions for use of the site are cross-referenced separately in the final chapter. In adopting this concise method, the author was able to add hundreds of additional or updated web resources, a surprising number of which can be downloaded onto a hard drive for immediate and continued use.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Intended as a guide for the average Internet user, this work should save valuable research time and prevent aimless searching. Worth (Church, Monarch and Bible in Sixteenth Century England) provides multiple locations for Bible translations (English and non-English), downloadable Bibles, audio Bibles, and hymns, as well as language resources, commentaries, and related study materials. However, the overall presentation has breadth but not depth. Worth does not address issues of bias, currency, or authenticity with relation to any of these sites; all URLs are sparely presented without editorial comment. These also tend to be heavily Protestant resources a quick peak at the index reveals that neither "Catholic" nor "Vatican" are listed anywhere, even though The Catholic Encyclopedia and various encyclical and ecclesiastical documents dealing with biblical topics are available on the web. Nor does Worth provide any introductory material on how one might search for biblical works or even a comparison of search engine efficiency in relation to biblical topics. Still, given its limitations (most glaring of which is the ephemeral nature of the web itself), this should provide librarians and dedicated researchers with useful bookmarks.
