    a romantic hope

In my short and subtle life I have never cried about a book so much ,it brought the best of depth in my life .I love romance but to cry over some one elses love is foolish, but after this book ,love , personal or anonymous , is the best thing in the world ,no matter what.

    Loves whisper.

Bid Time Return is a story that will give you the chance to indulge upon something you may never be fortunate enough to experience, and that is the purity of a love that touches you to the center of your being and stands true no matter what barriers may lay between two people.

    Hauntingly beautiful.

This book, now titled Somewhere In Time after the slightly more corny movie, I read when I was 17 on the way home from a vacation with my parents. I cried myself to sleep that night and every night for the next week. Matheson captured the essence of romance so perfectly it breaks my heart to this day. He also introduces theories about time travel that are less cliche sci-fi then they are spiritual and moving. This book is indeed a book about time travel, but it is also a heartfelt and divine romance, as well as a strong statement about destiny. A dying playwright takes a road trip, and by a coin's flip ends up at a magnificent hotel. After falling in love with a picture of an actress that performed there at the turn of the century, a series of haunting events take place that eventually bring the two together. Never in any book have I read has the essence of femininity been captured so perfectly. He writes a woman you will no doubt fall in love with too. When the book isn't making you long for a love you've never had, it will leave your head spinning with the mystery of how the two main characters came together. This is a book that would bring the meanest manliest truck driver to tears. Hey it worked on a 17 year old boy, who liked reading hardcore science fiction until he found Bid Time Return and never looked back.

I absolutely loved the movie based on this book "somewhere in time" so I wanted to read the book to see where it all started.

    Wonderfully entertraining and emotional.

I throughly enjoyed this book, even after I saw the movie 'Somewhere in Time'. I was able to trully get to know the characters, think and feel along side them. Also read about another book 'Memoirs of Elise' by another author that tells her store after Richard disappears from her life. I would like to read it, but can't find it.

    No Fair to Compare

Felt compelled to read the book after enjoying 'Somewhere In Time' and found it to be a nice surprise. Though the storyline was changed from the book, the book's tale was more bittersweet and made you do some thinking while the movie just made you sigh! I thought a good job was done on the book and then on the screenplay. I loved the basic theme of time travel and finding your soulmate. Kudos to both the book and the movie.
