Overview

Preschooloers will love the surprises waiting behind each flap as they learn important early concepts.

Full of unexpected delights, these bold, brightly illustrated lift-the-flap board books introduce early concepts to preschoolers. Opposites abound in BIG AND LITTLE with ingeniously positioned flaps. A "short" snake becomes "long" as the flap doubles in size; a ladder extends upward to become both "bottom" and "top." Learning becomes play in this clever board book.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
A clever design and artwork are used to illustrate opposites. A little bug all alone on a page gets lots of company when the tab is lifted to reveal many just like him. Among the pairs are bottom/top, winter/summer, closed/open, dark/light, short/long and more. Sturdy pages, bold illustrations and large tabs should help this book survive in toddlers' hands. Part of the "Look Inside" series. 2001, Candlewick, $4.99. Ages 2 to 4. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot

A Child Magazine Best Book of 2001 Pick

Surprises abound for wee ones in these two bright-as-a-button board books, which use flaps to explore opposites and position. Thus, in Big and Little, an all-black square (dark) opens up to reveal the view from a sunny window (light), while a flowerpot niftily discloses the little worm inside in What's There?
