Big Anthony, well-meaning but inattentive, journeys around Italy causing one problem after another, before meeting Strega Nona.

I used this book after reading Strega Nona. That way, the students/children are already familiar with the history of Big Anthony, and why it is so important to know that he is a clutz. My class loves Tomie dePaola and we do an Author Study every year with him.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

The 'Ending' is confusing. It just stops, saying 'the rest is history', with no explanation. It's OK up till that point, but rather hard to explain the abrupt ending. My child and I decided the author couldn't think up a better ending. Upon further research, there appear to be other, similar stories that tie into this story, but as a stand alone book, it doesn't work. It leaves one unsatisfied & frustrated. Was this review helpful?
