Big Dig: A Pop-Up Construction!

( 2 )

Overview

There's nothing more intriguing than a construction site. It's a mesmerizing combination of color and sound, action and excitement: from a wrecking ball smashing into old foundations, bulldozers clearing away the rubble, blocks of concrete achingly being lifted to waiting masons, to steel girders delicately being fitted into place. Paul Stickland has composed all these elements into a celebration of building. Seven high-activity spreads- each with generously sized, child-resistant self-activating pops and a ...

Seven high-activity spreads- each with generously sized, child-resistant self-activating pops and a brash, chant-aloud text -follow the process of construction, and culminate in a magnificent foldout scene of the finished project and cheering workers. More spectacular even than his phenomenally successful Dinosaur Stomp and Truck Jam, Big Dig is truly a job well done.

Author Biography: Paul Stickland's backlist includes some of the most popular dinosaur books ever, as well as such favorites as The Christmas Bear and One Bear, One Dog. The creator of Truck Jam, he lives with his wife and five sons in Somerset, England.

Pop-up pictures depict several trucks clearing a lot, by wrecking the old building, digging holes, and removing debris, so that a new building can be constructed.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
A wrecker's ball swings (from a string) and a backhoe's shovel extends from the pages of The Big Dig: A Pop-Up Construction! by Paul Stickland. In all, the well-crafted creation displays seven amazing machines; a final fold-out reveals the work in progress. (Aug.) Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.

    So much fun to read!!!

I bought this book for a three year old and he HAS to have it read every night before bed. He knows the names of each and every truck and lights up when he says their names!! I can't wait to buy it for my almost-year-old grandson Cody. This book has the most magnificent life-like pop-up features!!
