Martin Belmont's resume indicates where he's coming from. A former member of Ducks Deluxe and the Rumour and sideman for Carlene Carter and Nick Lowe, Belmont has his pub rock and roots-rock credentials down cold, and that's exactly what you get on his solo album, Big Guitar. Running through a collection of originals, unknown gems and classic covers "Ring of Fire," "Howlin' for My Baby", Belmont turns in an enjoyable, if inconsequential record.
