Honey, is a great big, lovable Great Dane with slobbery jowls. When her owner goes away on a trip and invites a dog-sitter into the house, Honey is forced to share her home with a not-so-intelligent human and her Great Dane puppy, Bean. Honey isn't too keen on the idea of sharing her home with a puppy who isn't even house-trained. But eventually she warms to the adorable little pup who seems intent on eating everything in sight. So when puppies in the area begin mysteriously disappearing, followed by the disappearance of Bean, Honey is understandably distraught.
At the site of each puppy abduction, a black scarab beetle is left behind. Could it be a clue? Honey and her canine friends join forces to find out the mystery of the scarab in the hopes of rescuing the missing puppies.
Author H.Y.Hanna has conjured a delightful cast of characters, each with their own endearing personalities. With playful puns and creative twists on age-old clichés Hanna artfully addresses such moral topics as prejudice and stereotypes, gossip and rumors all rolled up into an page-turning mystery.
The Curse of the Scarab comes highly recommended and has earned the CLC Seal of Approval.

I purchased this book for my 11-year-old daughter to read. She is a 'warriors' fan who has read through all those series, sub-series, sub-sub-series, you get the idea. This book seemed like it would hit that nice 'sweet spot' to get her to read instead of watching television. Since she is articulate enough to speak for herself, I will let -her- tell you what she thought of it:
Review from Catherine:
Hi. I read this book and I'll tell you about how totally EPIC it was!
I'm just saying... I don't think that you should have let what happened to Max, until the end of the series!
Don't look at me! I'm not telling you what happens to Max, or even who max is!
I gave this book a 5 star rating because it was worth reading!
