Overview

Big Nate. He thinks big. He talks big. He acts big. And the Big Nate: I Can't Take It, featuring our mischievous middle-school hero, is big fun.

Life can be stressful for Nate Wright.  At school, Mrs. Godfrey makes every day a nightmare.  At home, he's stuck between Ellen, his incredibly annoying older sister, and Dad, perhaps the most clueless parent of all time.  And don't get him started on Gina, the ultimate teacher's pet, or Artur, the unassuming exchange student who bests him at every turn.  It's enough to make even a can-do kid like Nate scream:  "I CAN'T TAKE IT!"

Editorial Reviews

Big Nate has hit his middle-school max. At home, at school, everywhere he goes he is beset by people who torment him in one way or another. In this trade paperback original, our emphatically opinionated anti-hero hero vents on all things wrong in his life.

From the Publisher
“In addition to the graphic storytelling, Nate’s cartoons interspersed among Peirce’s panels could provide teachers and librarians with great opportunities to incorporate this series into programs or lessons on cartooning and writing.” (Snow Wildsmith, Booklist)

“…if you’re looking for a new series to introduce your kids to this upcoming holiday season, chances are they’ll really like these collections.” (Rich Johnston, Bleeding Cool)

“Big Nate is super funny. I love these books.” (Appeal-Democrat)

Children's Literature - Erika Clark
Nate is back and filled with a ton of jokes. Nate irritates his father by writing him a list of requests as a New Year’s Resolution. Nate watches his father go from eating a snack bag to working out with a speed bag to ultimately sleeping on a beanbag. Nate kicks an anthill of fire ants and screams away in pain, while his friends in center and left fields watch in amusement. Nate climbs high in a tree, but then he is too afraid to get down. Nate then loses a game of chess against an opponent who is too fast. Nate opens his locker to a strong wind of school supplies, which blows Cindy away from his friend Teddy. Nate’s friends plays an April Fools’ prank on him by setting up a banana peel on a sidewalk. When he slips and falls, the author shows every emotion on Nate’s face and depicts the sounds that one would hear if he or she were watching this prank. Regardless of what Nate does, the reader will imagine every scene and laugh after reading every comic strip. Reviewer: Erika Clark; Ages 8 to 12.

Big Nate I can’t take it! I think the book was ok. So at first I thought it was one story and when I got to the third page it went to a different story and did not finish the topic. The main character is big nate he is a clumsy boy.I thought it was a long story like a boy at school and was a hard working boy that did everyone’s homework and did not want to do there homework.

Big Nate When I first got the book I thought the book would be different. I thought the book would be about him being mad because he it’s called Nate can’t take it anymore but it was really funny and I think it was really funny. The book was funny and it had lots of funny jokes. I enjoyed it a lot and I will continue reading the other books. The main character was named Named it also had his dad, his friend Artur, his annoying older sister Ellen, and his evil teacher Mrs. Godfrey. The setting is mostly outside where he plays football and inside his school. This is a comic book and I usually don’t like comics but I love this one. I liked this book because it was funny and I had a lot of things I could relate to. I recommend it to people who want to read a funny book. If I had to I would rate it a 4 out of 5. Life can be stressful beetween all these people and annoying teachers Nate can’t take it anymore.
