    Big Sister Now is the story of Kate¿s unsettling feelings about not being the baby of the family anymore because of her new baby brother, Daniel. Kate is forced to share her parents¿ attention with Daniel, and feels left out and forgotten because so much attention is paid to her new brother. Kate does whatever she can to help her parents care for Daniel, and she likes it when her parents tell her what a ¿terrific big sister¿ she is to Daniel. Kate soon learns that being the big sister has its advantages too. The illustrations are pleasing and the characters¿ faces are full of expression. I thoroughly enjoyed Big Sister Now because of its delightful illustrations, and humorous drawings. At one point in the story, Kate is trying patiently to wait for her mother to finish rocking her crying brother. The illustrations show Kate first lying flat on the floor with the book tented over her head, then she¿s on her knees with her head on the floor (book still tented over her head), and finally lying on her stomach on the floor clearly exhausted from waiting for her mother. The illustrations made me want to pick Kate up and read the book to her myself! Big Sister Now is an adorable story and would recommend it to any parent of a pre-school child.

    A Timeless Message

    This situation is as old as time, yet this book brings a warm and fresh view to all older siblings out there. The fine line between love and jealousy is dealt with in a positive way for parents to teach an early life lesson. Adorable book with a timeless message.

    Big People Will Love Big Sister Now too!

    Big People will find Big Sister Now as much a delight to read as the new Big Sister or Brother. Author Annette Sheldon dared go where few have gone before¿she successfully entered the mind of a 2 ½ year old and stayed there throughout the entire book. Every one of Big Sister Kate¿s insecurities, fears, and exclamations about the new baby rings ¿toddler true.¿ And illustrator Karen Maizel nailed little Kate¿s persona, character, and expressions as they relate to the abruptly changed family dynamics. But there¿s so much more¿each illustration is a gem with many facets. Every time the book is opened, the reader will be surprised by a new aspect of an illustration that was missed the first or second read-through. Because both the author and illustrator sweated the ¿small stuff,¿ Big Sister Now is a pure joy to read, again and again. Their careful attention to the tiniest detail, both in words and images, surely define Big Sister Now as unique amongst books in its category.
