Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
Did Yeti, Sasquatch, or Bigfoot exist or was it just a wild tale? Krensky explores historical sightings and stories of the legendary, tall creature in the "Monster Chronicles" series. Although many of the Bigfoot stories were hoaxes, there were a few unexplained sightings of the creature that people claim to have seen. Reports of the Sasquatch sightings came from parts of North America and Asia. Travelers recorded encounters with a furry, tall creature, yet there was no evidence of its existence. Although Edmund Hillary found huge footprints in the Himalayas, he was not able to find substantiated proof. Fabricated stories about Bigfoot circulated. Ray Wallace filmed and photographed Bigfoot but it was just a staged hoax. The intrigue of the mysterious creature captured the imagination of some moviemakers who used Yeti-like characters. Included in the book are other resources about Bigfoot and a glossary of similar legendary creatures. Are they real or just fabrications?
