Joel Whitburn lists AND cross references the artists and music titles, in a 'no nonsense' way - yet provides interesting additional information. So valuable, the book is right next to my keyboard most of the time.

Volume 6 of Top 40 Hits remains the undisputed #1 reference resource of recorded music. Top 40 is as valuable as any piece of equipment packed into my road-case. I eagerly await Vol. 7. No brag, just fact!

I love this book almost as much as I love radio! I look forward to every new publication from Joel Whitburn. I recomend this book to anyone interested in radio, music or pop history.

I have worked in radio for several years and find Joel's books to be the definitive source for one stop show preparation. I get many calls from listeners with questions about a song title or wanting artist specifics.... the answer is always there in the book. This book is also the ultimate place to find answers to resolve almost any music trivia argument!

I bought this book online to conduct research of the top 40 end of year charts from 1955 - 2003. It dosen't have them. What is does have is the weekly charts listed by song or artist and it does tell you there weekly ranking, but it's not in numerical decending order. That's not good for researching the most popular songs for the year. The book does say on the cover 'complete chart information about America's most popular songs & artists, 1955 - 2003' It does have the #1 songs listed by year in numerical order, but many of the charts only go to 9 not 40. Once again it is not good for research!
