About the Author

JOSÉ AVELINO GILLES CORBETT LOURENÇO is a writer and filmmaker who lives in Toronto with his wife and two small daughters. His feature writing/directing debut, Young Werther was featured at TIFF and now has wide release; his short film, Romance Language, won a BravoFACT production award, premiered at Palm Springs, jogged along from festival to festival, then sprinted online as a Vimeo Staff Pick. Other recent projects include the feature screenplay Massey ’53 for Rhombus Films and a feature screenplay for Simon Kinberg's Genre Films at Fox. A graduate of McGill University, José's career began in print journalism. He was a copy editor and columnist at the Toronto Star, after which he transitioned into broadcast television producing at MuchMusic and the CBC.

James Braithwaite is an illustrator, animator and writer, who lives in Toronto with his lovely wife and two little sprogs. James’ work has been nominated for an Oscar, was presented at the Guggenheim, and won an Emmy. An Emmy is alarmingly sharp, and is great for holding bananas. James currently spends all his time in his studio softly muttering at his watercolour palettes. He’s fine. But you should probably bring him a bagel.
