Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"In the spirit of Silverstein’s Where the Sidewalk Ends and Prelutsky’s The New Kid on the Block, this book promises laughs--and it delivers."--Booklist

"This approachable collection contains a multitude of musical mouthfuls . . . Tart, clever, inventive poems such as these are one of the best ways for kids to explore the wonderful flavors of language."--The Bulletin
Children's Literature - Jan Lieberman
Douglas Florian's Bing Bang Boing is the perfect antidote for dull days. Even if you don't feel like laughing you'll find it hard to frown when you read about the "Shoddy Body Shop" where, mistakenly, "They oiled my joints and greased my hair, / Then filled my left foot full of air, / They wiped my glasses and washed my trunk / And cleaned my crankcase of all gunk...." The poems may be silly or outrageous - "Meg in search of an elixir / Jumped inside a concrete mixer. / Nose and toes and arms and legs / All emerged as scrambled Meggs," but they challenge and delight with wordplay and interesting vocabulary.

I have looked for this book ever since I got out of my previous school in 1997. I must have read it about a hundred times, I think this book has GREAT poems for children and adults alike. I know not many people have heard of it but I have gotten every person I have told about it hooked on it too. That is why I give this book *****stars.
