Not sure what to make of this book. I've been running SVO in my benz for years, and had been considering making the jump to bio. I am also considering doing a small hobby farm for feed stock so I thought this would be a good read. I like his setup, and feel the DIY people out there will probably hate this book. The title is misleading. There is nothing really to do with farming other than suggesting the use of off spec crops and a seed press for stock oil. He never really goes into how to actually use a press or how to secure off spec crops, etc. He showcases a few DIY biodiesel setups and points out their flaws. The sections on his operation are useful and thought is put into making a quality product. One area in which he admittedly fails is that of what to do with the byproducts, glycerin and used test chemicals. He basically implores you to call your local government and not put it in down the drain. Although I agree with this approach, it was not particularly insightful. I will keep looking for a better read

I have been making biodiesel for years and this guy has to be a fake. My friend showed me this book and wanted my opinion. His equipment is brand new in the book. His design hasn't been tested. There's not a spot of grease on anything? Felix Unger makes biodiesel hehe..It's like a guy telling you how to drive a race car who hasn't ever raced? If there is a point to the book, I don't know what it is? It's over 500 pages of stuff you could get on the internet? The part on the actual making of biodiesel is a couple of pages. It's an odd duck and there's better out there..Lots of good stuff on Youtube...

I recently bought this book to learn more about Biodiesel. So far I haven't learned anything that I didn't know already. To begin with the Second chapter is nothing but this guy's Political View concerning Biodiesel. I didn't buy the book to read about his political view and I could care less about it. I read the Third Chapter and it doesn't get any better. I have read several books about performance diesel engines and this book actually makes no sense when he talks about the diesel fuel types and the cetane ratings. Then when he talks about biodiesel (very rarely) I am confused because one minute he is for it and then he is against it. I know people who run 100% biodiesel in their trucks and they haven't had any problems but according to the author this cannot be done. I honestly don't think this author knows what he is talking about. Anyway enough of my ranting. The books title is very misleading and I doubt it very seriously that I will finish this book. I will probably just use it as a paper weight or something.
