I took AP Biology just over a year ago and absolutely fell in love with this book. I wasn't sure before, but the lucid writing, wonderful illustrations, and genuine love of biology so evident in this textbook made up my mind to major in biology. I recommend this book to anyone who doesn't mind a lot of textbook reading. It's worth it. I helped me get a 5 on the exam, and probably many others as well. Good luck with your studies!

I used this book for my high school AP Biology 2 class. The chapters were easy to understand and the charts were helpful too. Great book!

Driven by the theme of evolution, dives into biological functions with examples for almost every idea. Great for understanding the everyday functions of life.

This is a pretty nice textbook as far as textbooks though. I am using it for a college level introductory biology class. The chapters are well written, but more importantly they are interesting to read..especially the chapters on genetics. An added bonus is the abundance of nice illustrations which often aid in absorbing some of the information. I like this book so much i am not going to keep it to use throughout my undergraduate career.

Im a high school freshman and we are using this book for our biology class. It provides a wonderful supplement to our class activities and is very straight forward.

I used this book last year as a Junior in an AP Biology Class. The pictures in the book as well as the interactive cd-rom make it extremely easy to understand, even when the text can be quite wordy. Also, it is updated from the 3rd Edition, which means they added new chapters about the recent developments in Genetics. I would highly recommend that if you are in AP Bio and you aren't using this version that you somehow get your hands on a copy, because it will be of great help when it comes time to take the test in May!

Biology Fifth Edition is an extremely well written book; very compprehensive, and despite the sometime dense material covered, very well explained. The graphic illustrations are an enormous help and the structuring of the topics and materials help in understanding the often tough perceived subject of biology. I used this book for college-level biology and it was extremely helpful. Therefore I strongly recommend it for educational purposes or as a reference book for biology-majors who, later on, often seem rather desparate and lost in the more in-depth college courses of molecular biology, ecology, biochemistry, evolution or genetics.

I used this textbook as part of my AP Biology class as a junior in high school this past year. Although this book was at times hard to understand- the visuals are extremely useful- as is the CD.

This is a great book for Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate students! Includes more detailed expansions over diversity and evolution plus new chapters over genetics and cell communication! I recommend this book to every bio student!

I'm 13 and am mentally gifted, and homeschooled. I was able to take a college level course with this book and now it's almost literally become my bible. Extremely informative, i've read it over at least 4 times and am in the process of doing so again. Great stuff about DNA, protein synthesis, and photosynthesis. Really got me interested and as i said, i'm only 13!!

Great book for Intro Students. Covers general and specific material in an easy-to-understand manner. THe self-quizzes at the end of each chapter are GREAT!! So are the interactive CD exercises that accompany it. I would recommend buying it new for every Intro Bio student, just to make sure you get the CDs.

Gives the information you need and more what you don't know but wish you did.

I'm an AP Biology student from Germany and I think it's an incredible book. The layout is unique. I really have no problems to understand difficult processes like cellular respiration anymore. The graphics are excellent guidelines to understand the text. The STS and challenge questions are near to a practial biology! Great book! It is a pity that it is soo expensive. It would certainly be the first book I would buy the next! Congratulations to Mr Campbell.

The book goes into depth about Biology. Very informative.

This is the most comprehensive general biology book in my collection of textbooks. Simple and mostly straight-forward... however, illustrations can be more effective.
